new wheel adapters on the way(http://www.gokartnminibikeparts.com/wheel_hubs.htm)...i will be welding sleeves on the before the install
    -body repair on muffler penetrations
-top shell painted primer brown ..waiting for camo
-new 420cc predetor from Harbor freight ($350 after tax)
-new 4 cycle clutch on the way ( http://www.gokartsupply.com/4044seri.htm...($150)
new engine / battery cradle fabed and painted...

Hi BK, welcome to the site. With such a detailed introduction post, I went ahead and just moved it to the Max forum as a separate thread so that you can update it as you progress. I look forward to watching your build.

Looks like a cool project! Im sure you know but your tires are backwards for amphibious travel but if you dont plan on going in the water they might be better that way for mud. Looks good so far though. Your craftsman? riding lawnmower almost looks like it has 6 wheels at first glance, lol.

Hi bjk14510. I'm doing the same thing almost but had the engine minis the starter and tires that will get me by just needed the chain and bushings and a few other minor things quite fun at our age isn't it??? the number on my max is 9398 and the factory says it's a 1991. you can call the factory and talk to Paula at 1-800-255-2511 and she will tell you all about it and also who originally bought it. she is really great they are in Buffalo N.Y. MIKE this is for you. I wonder if you or someone on this site might be interested in starting a tracking list of serial numbers so people could see what year machines are still running, main purpose also is just in case one gets stolen not just max but all if possible; can a thread or link be set up for that if enough people are interested that is. might be fun for some people just a thought sorry for getting off track kinda. your doing a great job bjk

well sherman it looks like I have myself a 1972...thanks again for the info....its kinda funny that some one from az was the one who gave me the # when I live about 40 minutes for the max factory but had no idea i was so close....lol....now my next quest is to figure out how to get it regestered without paper work....I asked the Max rep if i could get a duplicate reg or title and he said it was to old....all they came with back then was an MSO...whatever that is? any other NY riders that have any suggestions about getting it registered ?

If you call and talk to the person at Recreatives. They may be able to issue you a Manufacturers Certificate of Orgin. Better yet you might take your machine up there and show your face and start to develop a relationship with them. With a 72 your going to need parts and they are the ones you"ll need them from. Great people to deal with

I did talk to a person at recreative...in fact, 2 people....they said they could not issue a duplicate MCO because it was to old....they did say however that they did still have some parts unspecifically....but i agree, going there might be worth while
