      That looks like a farm implement part, not a 6 wheeler part.

        erin....that's exactly what im thinking..........the guy i got the MAX from is a scrapper that has done some work for me in the past and he came across it and was told by the owner to just take it and smash it into a dumpster because its all plastic and probably wasn't worth much as scrap....that tranny thing i posted was close to it next to the barn so he assumed it went with it....oh well

        i showed a buddy of mine my new toy and he said he knows wheres there's 3 or 4 of them sitting next to a barn out where he lives....he's going to stop in sometime and see what the status is on them...he wants one now too so maybe we can get them all and build two running machines from the lot ....we shall see

          Heres the motor you really need. Watch "Opposed Piston Opposed Cylinder Engine" Video at Engineering Videos - Engineering TV

            WOW....would be cool in a 6x6...but actually very very interesting...........the ultimate for that system would be to make it expandable....start with a base 2 [actually 4] cylinder and make the crank end cover removable so you can just purchase another module, remove the end plate bolt it on, plug in the wiring, water and fuel from a pass through system already on the base unit and roll on - - im curious as to the reality of "cutting" modules off for efficiency....car companies have been trying to make a dependable step down system for a very long time....Packard had one...Cadillac did it with their 8-6-4 baritz models in the 80's and now Chevy does it in some of their pick ups.......awesome idea but physics just simply says you can't spin all the mass of "dead" cylinders and efficiently cool and lube them in a running environment....hence these all though it be cool systems are short lived and extremely expensive to maintain ... just my 2 cents....lol

              Another CAT note, the BIG machines do it at an idle.. They cut random cylinders from time to time for better emissions. Sounds like they're gettin ready to lock up.....then tadah....back online! lol its odd. but yah your right..GM does it, Caddy and VW do it too i believe.

                The solution is easy.....just expensive. Put a clutch mechanism between modules....no need for the rotating mass of the cylinders that arent being used.
                Car companies have solutions for most problems, but $$$$ is the key. Humans are also resistant to change, so why spend money when the customers dont want it.

                  good point buggy man....im looking out the window at a 2004 honda civic hybrid right now in perfect running condition, clean little car, comfortable for its size...and it wont pass NY state inspection because the hybrid battery system is failing....not the motor it runs fine, no codes no errors......the only way to get a perfectly healthy car to pass inspection is to pay 5500 dollars for a new battery pack......in a car that's barley worth 5000 in good running condition............honda experimented with the public and now will not stand behind their product....praying on people like me who want to do whats right for the environment........honda and al gore can EAD as far as im concerned {eat a d*ck, btw...lol}

                  ill figure this mess out because we need the vehicle but my next vehicle will be another 12valve diesel with no computers and no emissions.....ill do my part for global warming {which doesnt exists by the way...its just another government ploy bought and paid for by big money purchasing legislation for their own greedy desires.....lol...sorry for the rant

                  man that sounded bad.....im really a down to earth guy...i dont live in a cabin in the woods planning the downfall of the government ...really, lol
