MaxII Bigfoot/Tall tub

HOLY (insert 4 letter word)!!! Jim, you officially lost your mind on this build, and I LOVE IT! You did an amazing job, and if Recreatives really wanted to build a new best of the best monster they'd replicate your design. I get through looking at all the pictures and keep thinking how awesome this machine is and then I see that you said you have a Kohler 40HP at the machine shop! Whaaaaaat?! A stock 40HP Kohler is insane power, but do I dare ask, are you going to be getting even more ponies out of it? I see this is a serious contender in the 4 stroke class at Ashtabula if you decide to race it. Very nice work!

WOW , what a striking contrast between the stock Max II and the taller tub Max II !! With a Kohler 40 hp and some Adair tracks on that Max II, you'll have one awesome Max II !

Hey Jim its looking great. Go big on hp with it. We don't need any whimpy bigfeet in our group. It would be nice if RI copied your idea, but my last conversations with Gaylin indicated that they can't do runs of the cooler color tops right now so I don't think a new mold will be in the works for a lower any time soon. For now you will have the only beast of its kind.

I do still have another uncut bottom.......if anybody else has a couple hundred extra hours they don't know what to do with.

Jim, I like the layout and location of your shifters. Nice work. To switch topics slightly, what are your plans for the laterals? Are you going to extend them or bend them towards the rear of the Max any to compensate for your new seat position? Mine are stock in my Max II and even with the stock bench seat, they seem to need lengthening to keep me from having to lean forward while driving it. I just imagine you are facing that same issue to a greater extent with your new seat or maybe it just looks like it sits further back than it does?

I ended up adding 4" to the sticks and about a 10 degree bend at seat level, making the sticks vertical when all the way forward.

Jim, I love what you've done with the Max! I'm really enjoying watching this build. Some of the AATV manufacturers could learn a lot from you about adapting and developing their products to the customer's wants and needs. Hopefully they're taking notes here.

JP, because you have friends at R.I., I hope you bring this to their attention....It would be cool to see them offer a tall tub maxII with the 26" tire option like on the MavIV.

This is some thing that Recreatives could do. If they had a deep tub mold built they could sell a Max II with 25" inch tires on it to provide more ground clearance and even better water speed from running larger tires like the Carlisle 25's.

They could do 25" tires with very little change.....these turned out to measure 24.5-24.75" at 2 1/2 psi on the 10" mudd-ox rims.
I'm rethinking tires now......26'ers, I just need a set to borrow to check out. I'm more curious about the ride quality with 12" rims than anything else.

The project is almost ready to ride....I just need to decide on what I'm doing with the motor......rebuild the 40HP Kohler? Buy a different one? Or just throw in the 16 briggs and drive it for now?
