Holy Cow....buy a couple new chain adjusters and ride the darn thing. I'm sorry, but my Max II works fine....I keep the thing pretty clean inside and adjust stuff once in awhile and I'm good to go. It is a chain. If it wears out a couple of hours faster because it is a hair too tight or a hair loose, oh well. Lets ride and not re-design the whole drive system. Also, Yamaha uses that same type (ratcheting or "step locking") of chain adjuster on their timing chains in motorcycle engines. It can't be all that bad.....

Of course Yamaha did not and timing chain from one sprocket to another is not tricky but to have 4 or 3 whiles truing off of it can be. I just buy the factory replacements and maintain them the best I can unless there is a cost effective way to make it last longer or more reliably I would like to know about it.

              srg121,

Personal attacks are not tolerated. Please refrain from doing so. That was uncalled for.

Wow easy on the rant SRG

Wow easy on the rant SRG you may be offending some talented individuals out there.
I agree with the flogging a dead horse comment to be a tiny bit out of line and if they do not like the thread don’t read it.

I agree some refinement could be made but as far as saying things are out dated some greater things were accomplished back then compared to now. The last few decades just seams to be a few small refinements not accomplishments.

P.S I still like playing the Atari 2600 it is fun and I do not have to wait for XP or vista to boot up

Just stating that a ratcheting type chain adjuster is used in other areas of industry. That's it.

                    Guys,

I was just joking with the comment about a dead horse. I did not mean to offend. I was not attacking anyone and am sorry if it was taken in that context. Thought I was adding a little humor. Guess I was the only one laughing.

But, it would be cool to have that icon.

the adjuster you mentioned is only on the slack side and not load bearing.......i took no offence to your reply... and i don't feel i personally "attacked" anyone....simply asked some "tough" questions...people who live in glass house's shouldn't throw stones...i don't regret anything i said and didn't mean to bruise anyone's fragile ego's...also, although i don't think it applied here i do think the smiley beating a dead horse is very funny and would make a good addition....as well as a smiley beating his head against a brick wall
