  • Cheap Bearings

After calling around the cheapest place to get HC207-20 r3 triple sealed bearings is from Kaman Industrial at $17.10 a piece. Buffalo was close at $17.44. Just thought I would pass this along so people know where to go when you need bearings.

Why not just replace the bearing? Is the housing damaged?

The flanges/housing are not included with the bearings, mine are not damaged either. The link you posted is not a triple sealed bearing only a standard single seal. They could be used but for 6 bucks more everyone should use the triple sealed version in any aatv.

triknologist is right, you will want to run the triple lip sealed bearings. Those single lip bearings that you posted the link to won't last very long in our AATV application.

My housings have a double lip seal on them and the bearing is full of grease.
Is a common problem with bearing failure water or dirt/mud or lack of grease?

Yes, that's the most common culprit for bearings going bad.

I've had the best luck buying from www.thebigbearingstore.com . Lower prices and they have a lot of bearings on hand.

                          Origional axle bearings

Not to be difficult but does anyone know what the origional bearings from RI were? I understand how the triple sealed bearings are MUCH better than the less expensive ones. however I have a Max II i bought new in 96 and it is just now in need of bearings for the axles. If the origionals were of the "cheaper" variety I have no qualms about using them again since they lasted me for this long the first time.

RI uses a brand called Peer. At least they did a couple of years ago.

Your correct Mike, I just re-bushed and re-bearing-ed my MaxII with the factory bearings. The bearings are made in China but appear to be good quality. Peer is owned
by SKF. as much as I hate purchasing offshore parts there is a limit to how much i will spend on 6 bearings.
i also like to support RI when I can.
