  • Hello New member

hello, im am a new owner of a max ii. i traded my dirt bike for this machine and needless to say its in ruff shape. first off it had a 340 pull start sled motor in it that was soild mounted to the axle rails. i have a few questions about these machines.

i was looking at the front end. im pretty sure the axles are bent in front. whats the deal with these soild axles and who sell them? wats the going rate?

i have the older gen max ii and i was wonder if the frame is build slightly higher on the left side by the foot brake, or is this a serious frame bend?

i aquired a 670 electric start rotax w/ everything thats going into the machine. i plan on making this machine right and will use the skidoo rubbermount system to keep this thing from flying out the back of the atv. i ordered a bunch of chomoly steel so as soon as i get that i can start rock and rolling with the mounting of the powerplant.

Looks pretty good.A lot of people on the site have parts for sale,Look under parts. How much higher is your frame on the left side?It should be level but as long as it's not bad enough to throw you chain out of alignment you should be good.Sounds like someone did a nose dive.

That looks like the Max II that was on the Buffalo or Rochester Craigslist. You can call the factory (Recreatives Inc. in Buffalo, NY) and tell them the serial number that's on the plate on the side of the upper body and they can give you all the details about the machine. Also, whatever you do, DON"T deal with Richard Clark/Route6x6 because you'll get ripped off and receive inferior quality parts.

From the surroundings I would say this machine is in capable hands. Use 1" dia 1144,TG&P, for axles and just make your own. They are very basic.
        O,and Hi,welcome to the site.

The 6x6 was picked up in warsaw ny about a hour from where i live in clarence center. This machine was rode hard and put away wet. So as far as thr axles go i should call max? Theres no aftermarket axle builders? Im going to call max one of these days seeing as i live a stone throw away from them. The frame sits about a half inch higher on ths left. It looks like a manufacturer bend but heck idk ****. Thanks for the info guys

Joe had a small typo there, the axles are actually 1.25" dia., take yours into a machine shop and get a price on them making you a new one. They can cut the end plate off your old one to reuse on the new shaft.
The outer frame "c" channel is taller than the inner "c" channels, but should be straight from front to rear. If yours is bent, you should see where there is a pucker in it....I.E. the bottom stretches the top must shrink.

Thanks for clearing that up Jim. That wasn't a typo, but rather a statement supported by pure ignorance . Since I have zero hands on experience on Max ll's and was just visioning my attex and Hustler,I should have kept my hands in my pockets This dawned on me a couple hours later while away from a computer and am relieved to see it's straightened out.Sometimes this stuff is intimidating enough, folks don't need bad advice to boot.
