i had mentioned a few things about my max when i introduced myself. well now im ready to show my findings.

im thinking about parting this machine. wat a head ace. this guy had a death trap. now i dont feel so bad about the dirtbike i traded him because supposedly the lower rod bearing exploded the next day. there is nothing right about this machine. im gunna give it my best to repair this heavily damaged frame but i dont see a bright future for the max ii.

If you're up to the the task of pulling the frame out it's really not that much of a task to straighten the frame out with some simple, common shop tools. I've straightened comparable frames with little more than a floor jack and something heavy to push against. Don't give up on it just yet.....

        EDIT::

Oh; welcome to the hobby. I'm in Lockport, and I have several hammers capable of manipulating your frame back into a position that's at least close to what the factory engineers envisioned..... Let's fix stuff....

I do agree. Look at my pictures of my 980 Rebuild. My frame was bent in four different places, I had a total of like 18 stress cracks and my two center sprockets were seized on the axles (I had to cut them out and buy new axles). I was finished with fixing it in like 45 minutes with a lil help, not even really trying or breaking a sweat. Of course that's not counting the time it takes to pull the frame out, but still that only took 20 seconds once everything is loose and out. I think you will have a great machine. Most of the members on this forum have went through a lil pain with their amphibs initially, but once they finished,,,,,,,,, "PURE SATISFACTION". Check the threads and photo gallery for info and buy a good 5lb hammer, crowbar, and a 12-pack and you'll be 'OK'!!!!!!!

HydroMike is a trip. I am two hours south of Buffalo but frequent there often to visit members jpswift and maxIVmark as well as hydromike. We like to get together to fix stuff/beak stuff/and fix it again. It can be a very good time, just watch Mike doesn't slip anything in your drink.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

                  Another 12 pack always helps.

ha theres nothing u can put in my drink that i havent already done.

well i feel a little bit better now that u said it isnt that bad. i have a tig welder, i havent used it very much and im not very good ;/ but if anyone in the area can weld that be cool to get together. ive seen worse forsure, but im super backed up on my projects. i though this be a trade and go situation. normally im han solo on my projects, my friends dont provide much input besides the occasional s***, f*** and manual labor. hydro mike where in lockport are you. i live right on the boarder of clarence and lockport.

im waiting for the steel to mount the engine, and now i gotta do frame repair and bearing replacement

btw im banshee guy. i just got my 485 cheetah motor back and gotta re assemble it, heres a photo from last year

It don't look near bad enough to part out. Besides, if JP and HMike can't fix it; then it can't be fixed.

well its official. the frame is totaled. cracks everywhere, the inner rails are rotated about 15 degrees and bowed out. the outter rails are in the shape of a banana. nothing is salvageable, not even the trans mounts.

im really kicking myself in the ass with this project. i have no choice but to build my own frame or locate another. i honestly dont know how this machine moved before i got it. heres some max ii trivia

the max ii only has 6 bearings, 5 were bad, 1 was new, and one was installed backwards???

a 340cc motor was mounted to the inner frame rails with 4 1/8 botls, the trans is held in with 4 bolts, the max contained more that 12 nuts and bolts inside the hull that had rattled out out have been mia for sometime.

when in doubt, weld a small piece of angle iron to one frame rail to the next. this will almost always make up for rubber mounts and engine isolators.

the only thing straight on this project, was me and my buddy who ripped it apart. if my frame was a celebrity, it be Elton john.

my max is being built to house a 670cc rotax motor. i was able to twist my frame by hand.

sigh im tired and out of trivia. ill be back......

here are some photos before the bad news.

kinda ****ty pics but hey its something to look at

Just a thought and you may or may not want to do this but here is a machine that a member sold me which came only with a transmission, a frame and a body. Yes we are great friends and i knew what i was getting into, but my wife said what have you bought. This is what it looks like today with the springer kit that i installed which i bought from another member "Whipper". Just by chance he builds a springer kit for the Max vehicle also and is a great add-on for a machine like yours. Just something to think about.

and here is the Max springer.

With a little help from your friends, nothing is impossible. Great luck on your machine and hang in there, building it is half the fun.
