I have a max ii and I'm also 6'6" tall is there any way to get a bit more leg room.

No! Actually a MaxII has a lot of leg room compared to other aatv's. Have you tried putting your feet all the way up on the front of the tub? having this forward spot to push against works real well when you hit rough areas.IMG_0253.jpg When I built this machine, the seat was a little farther forward and it was easy for me to do that(@5'11"). But when I built the Bigfoot it was easier to put the seat back farther(the way the seat mounted).......I missed the place to prop my feet, so I bought some wheel chocks .IMG_0060.jpgIMG_0961.jpg
Unless you want to make it a Max I, you are kindof stuck with the leg room you have. -
I really like the one with the wheel chocks. Thanks for the idea. My max has a metal foot resting plate inside from the previous owner . I will post pictures later, but it is really neat. Thanks manComment

I've been looking into extending my bottom tub the way you did. Next weekend I'm going t pick up another max 2. No motor or trans but all else is there just all torn apart. It has all solid axles and new sprockets. I was wondering how hard it was to piece that tub together and if it really makes that big of a difference when you take yours out? How big are the tires you can put on it now? And how much hp is need to turn the larger tires?Comment

You really can't do what I did with a "USED" tub. You need one that has not had the axle holes cut out yet, unless you want cuts and splices everywhere. The stock MaxII has an axle spacing of 25", I extended mine to 26 1/4". As far as "how hard it was".....how do I answer that? Scale of 1-10 with lego toys being a 1 and building a spaceship at 10, lets call it a 4 (entire project). Really the hard part was the amount of time it took.
Larger tires really make a good machine great. It does take a little extra HP to handle them, but that's really more of a weight issue than diameter. It takes more HP to spin heavier tires.
These are the tires I ended up with 25x12-9 Super Light Tire . On Mudd-ox 10" wide rims they measure 24 3/4" dia. (@5psi) and I have 2 3/4" clearance to the tub at the closest point.Comment

do you remember how much the new tub was. Also how much more spacing between axles was needed. in other words will i need to replace the frame as well, or do the holes from factory for axles not get in the way of the new ones that will need to be drilled.Comment

The tubs I bought were factory seconds (blemished) and I got 2 tops, 2 bottoms and a couple hundred bucks of misc other parts for $1200. I don't have a breakdown, so I just say $250 each piece. I do have another uncut lower tub that another member wanted pending transportatiion. I'm waiting to hear back from him to see if he still wants it. It may be available if he doesn't.
If you were looking at this mod to get the extra leg room you wanted.......I didnt actually increase the tub length, just the height. The frame was stretched, so it moved the axles closer to the corners.
