Nice work. Seems to be dialed in nice. Could you get detailed pics of the transmission and how it turns the front end. Wanted to know how
the front end spins. I seen somebody on youtube had put in some hubs on front that could turn out so you just had 2 wheel drive. It seem to turn alot better with the hubs out on tight turns.

I will when I get there.. It's surprisingly simple. The trans turns a heavy duty jack shaft by chain, and from that two chains drive the forward and rear axles. As for turning.. without any differentials ... straight through axles.. turning would never be good. I would think that the driven front wheels would help pull you through a turn.. When I get the chance to drive this I'll know for sure.

Yes... I also have a 73 and it has that new transmission.. 2 forward speeds too. That will be the one I keep.. hope to repower it with a 20 hp 4 cycle. And those hubs would be a good thing.. don't need full time 4WD. The 73 had the same body as yours.. all broken and gone now..

Got the frame back into the tub now. I used por 15 frame paint on my frame.. it's as hard as rock and fixes rust problems. I also like the way the truck box liner coating turned out on the outside of the tub. It's not smooth.. but will take a lot of abuse. I'm in the process of rebuilding the steering tubes..

I have added more seat supports and better controls.

There was a T.J. dealer back in my hometown in Arkansas. He did well into the late 1980s when the Japanese 4 wheelers finally did his business in and he switched to outboard sales and service.

The Terra Jets were nice machines for the day. I remember seeing many of them on duck hunts. From what I recall steering was their bugaboo, I guess kind of like the Coot. I'm working on converting my Coot to electric power steering, which might also be an idea for the T.J.

Robeye, I saw on your youtube site that you had a Struck mini dozer. I had one myself once, great little yard working machines in their own right.

That's a cool little 1968 Jiger as well. I've seen a couple in the flesh but they were basket cases. Your's looks like a fine example and I think like you do about transplanting that Toro ZTRs drive and power into that Jiger.

Thanks Noel... yup the steering could be and issue.. locking hubs would be a big improvement. The rack & pinon seems to work good.. I'm going to redesign the bushings & seals. They need grease zerts. I have three TJ's so I'll be improving things as I get to each one.. The Jiger is in very good condition.. so I'll save it for next winter.. and give it a much improved drive ..

This Is The TJ my Boys and I rebuilt last year, Originally it had a Fiber Glass body but it was pretty rough, so we went custom and made a spinoff of the VA-6 Bodystyle.
They have had a lot of fun with it now I am working on building a locking hub set up. Chilliwack BC resident
