  • Scrambler rebuild

I have been working on my scrambler and started a photo album on it.

    Larry's Scrambler

Yesterday was spent taking stuff apart and painting it. Today did some more painting and putting together.

Well I tore it back apart. It wasnt to bad though I took it apart as a whole. Just 4 bolts. I decided to paint the inside of the tub black. I kinda went back and forth with leaving it or painting it but black it is.

Thanks for the kind works Jeffery9076, Joe M, Mike and Marshallepp.

I had some time to work a little more on it today. Been raining a lot making it difficult. I have some updated pictures of progress.

It has been a while but I was able to work on it some today. I think what I may do is put the 4 seater top on the lower body of the one I have been redoing. And change it over to the electric reverse. The 4 seater is I believe a '77. The 3 seater Im working on is a '69. The lower body of the newer 4 seater one is thinner and flexs a lot more then the older '69.

Then when its done, I will work on the original lower from the 4 seater. And probably keep that the 3 seater. Being thinner fiberglass only holding 3 people would be better on it. Plus the 3 seater rear seat is really only big enough for 2 kids or 2 smaller adults. Not real big. But I need to finish some last touches on the attex little lil truck conversion first before I start working on the other scrambler. I started it and been driving it around half done.

I added some pictures to my scrambler gallery showing the electric reverse motor mount and a comparison of the 3 and 4 seater rear seats.

I added a few more but if you search the album for last upload you should see them.

When will we see this machine run Larry? You are doing a super job.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

                            Thanks Guys!

This project is going sloooow. There is a lot more parts and mechanisms in a scrambler then the attexes. But hopefully I can get a good chunk of the day in it today and it should be getting real close.

I have 3 engine choices. Nothing high horse or fancy though. A tecumseh 10hp HM100 that seemed to run ok. A tecumseh 10hp HH100 that runs great but does smoke. Think it may need rings in future. A kohler 8hp k181 that runs really good too but I have nothing for the charging other then whats under the flywheel and need to figure that out. It needs 12v to run the coil. All 3 have electric start. That little kohler and the HH100 sure did impress me when they started. Good reliable ole faithfuls. Little dissappointed in the HH100 smoking but I may just run that for now.
