  • Pug axel problems

If anybody has any info on HAXCO axels made by the holtan axel tranmission co,please let me know. I do have the axel tag model & serial numbers for both front and rear. This is a awsome machine, I can fix just about anything on it. I don't even have a year on it because there is no tag or stamp on it anywhere. It dose have a metal front-end , a centrifugle drive clutch both on the motor & front axel , 2 foward & 1 reverse gearing and a hyd dump bed. People tell me I should get rid of it but I am a sucker for the classics. Hope someone has better info than what I have been getting off the internet

I have no idea on the subject but maybe its a part a machine shop can tackle?

You may have already seen it but here is a brochure in the brochure section of the site.

    Good luck!

Larry, that brochure reminded me of the Gondo. Isn't the Land Pride Gondo the successor to the Pug? Perhaps Gondo axles/parts are interchangeable? I am just guessing here as I have no knowledge of either but I'm just throwing out some ideas that may be worth some further research. You may want to contact Land Pride directly and just ask them:

I don't see the Gondo on their site but I didn't look too hard either. They may not be made anymore but parts could still be available.

Here is a manual on the Gondo: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sourc...SkiRQgaKPzjrEg

Thanks for some info Mike , that machine manual is alot newer than what I have , but it is a place to start. What do you think of the PUG? I will download some pictures for all to see in the next few days.

I have never had any experience with a PUG, I've just seen pictures of some. Please do upload some pictures of yours to the gallery if you get a chance. I've always liked the way they looked. They look like a real workhorse. Outside of that I have no knowledge of them. Let us know what you find out. It may help someone else down the road. Also, if you click on the Land Pride link in my last post to their website they have some contact information there.

My serial number for the Pug is on the top of the right side frame rail all the way to the rear of the front section. It is stamped in the frame hard to see with all the paint all most missed it dont know what it meens yet but the last three numbers are the engine size Mine is 120 which is the Briggs and Stratton 12 HP and I have the numbers for the engine so I will try to find out my pugs year from that well see.

the old pugs was also called the Chetech PUG.. some was built by Chetech and some was built by Bruce MFG.. Land pride was the last to build them and they called it the Gondo but they have not built them in years...

if you have axle problems any good machine shop can fix it..

                  Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I do know that at one point when it went out of business , the employees got together and started making them again but it didn't last to long. Hopefully I can find some used axels so that I have the outer housing and other pieces & parts.

EJ pug, What type of problems are you having with the axel?, I'm buying one just like yours on Wed. 11/5/2011, the guy is calling his a Jacobsen UTV, he claims it runs a drives fine, but needs some TLC ,he is asking $1500.00 for it. it looks like a beast like yours, by the way the pictures you posted helped me out big time, thank you.

The serial number for your Jacobsen UTV / Pug ( EJ pug ) sitting in the passenger seat look under the dash where you can store stuff it is dead center, mine has a sticker then the numbers stamped into the steel, the Model you have is the same one I have, it was made by Jacobsen, the year is still unknown to me, I just picked mine up yesterday, I posted pictures of mine also on this site, this thing is a beast that's for sure.
