Never heard of that one. Any Pictures? Just wondering, he wasn't by chance calling it a "Mud Buggy" because more than a few people call these that. But if you can snap a few pictures someone here will be able to either identify it or say you found something unique. If it's a Mud Buddy you'll have to get it
I think that would make you #1 Mud buddy owner on this site.
A picture of the motor and of the tranny will help. Most are simple and if it's a T-20 then Tranny parts are still currently in production.Attex 295 Wild Wolf: sigpic My Runner

Pics are a must, because I never heard of a Mud Buddy either. I met a guy once crossing a road who stopped me and asked about my Max II and said he had a friend years back who had a "Mud Puppy" which is another moniker I have not heard of before or since. Perhaps another misidentification of an existing AATV model. Who knows? Just snag some pix and post them here so we can take a look and help you figure out 1) what it is and 2) if it's worth it.

i mis spoke, it is a mud puppy. six wheels, red, single cylinder with a centrifugal clutch. engine is in the back, chain drive with some kind of variable belt drive system, it has a single steering lever in between the seats, it also serves as the throttle. Push it foreword and it revs up and goes foreward, tip the lever to the side and it disengages th belt on that side and in turn skid steers the same direction. its a two seater, and it has a single headlight, in the middle of the front body. i dont have any pics yet. anybody know anything?Last edited by trapperjess; 11-25-2010, 03:26 PM."can you skin grizz pilgrim?" Hey Jeremiah Johnson, It sounds like that's a real find. Many people on here have a fondness to the rare old machines, me included. You just can't compare them to the new modern ones. You can still have a lot of fun with them, but they probably aren't as durable and replacement parts have to be custom machined. An example is my sears sportster. There's only about 5 of them that I've heard of. It is fiberglass, making it more rigid, but not as forgiving. Fiberglass is also alot heavier creating more stress on components. It has 1" axles and #40 chian, compare that to my maxII with 1 1/4 axles and # 50 chain and a lighter body. The max will also accept larger tires, for better ground clearance and traction in the mud. The two big reasons I went with the max are: #1, I hate the tempermental 2 stroke JLO engine(no offence Don and Johnny), and #2, I'm afraid I'm going to damage the sportster driving it like I want to (like I stole it). I have a new 16 hp briggs to put in the sears, but I'm not really sure I want to do that either. I've even thought of selling it to somebody who will baby it. Hey Don, want a sportster?
Anyway,......buy the vintage machine, but also buy a modern one to use and abuse.
Most of all, have fun!

i definately understand wanting to get the new machine to beat around in. I'm mostly looking for a rig to get me into those hard to reach hunting spots during the winter, and to use while checking my trapline. I cant say that it wont get abused but i try to keep the abuse to a minimum. replacement parts arent really a problem because im a machinist, and can make most anything."can you skin grizz pilgrim?" OK, the way you describe this makes it sound like what you have here is actually a Multimobile...........hey Larry W, we need your input! All I know that these were built by Multimobile Corporation out of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Larry has a Multimobile, which originally came from the factory in red. There aren't very many of these, so a restoration would be really cool. Here is a video of his:

it is incredibly similar, it may be, i was going off a Mud Puppy sticker on the front corner. im thinkin that its a multimobile. it doesnt need restoration, the motor and drivetrain have been rebuilt, and the body is great. just a shop vac job, and wash it and you would be lookin good in itLast edited by trapperjess; 11-26-2010, 12:25 AM."can you skin grizz pilgrim?" Ok, i watched the vid. the drives an whatnot are just alike. I think its a multimobile. what still throws me is the mud puppy sticker, i dont know what to make of it now. the machine doesnt need any restoration, he rebuilt the motor and drivetrain, and the body looks really good. i think that a shop vac and a good scrubbing could really clean this thing up, and look almost new."can you skin grizz pilgrim?" I figured that it was a Multimobile from how you described it. Now I'm really anxious to see some pics! I'd imagine the mud puppy stickers are probably something that someone that owned it just stuck on there."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

Hurry up and buy it already! We are planning a ride next weekend, weather permitting, over by LarryW. Rouch Outdoor This place has a bunch of land behind the store, open to the public and free admission. It has a pond, swamp, big hills, and trails through the woods. We would love to see you there. The bad news is, it is about a 3 hour drive for you.
I will be staying Out of the pond in December. It was warm in July

I have a brochure on the multimobile I need to send in to Mike.
As far as mud puppy goes. I had a confusing dilemma when I bought mine. It looked like a multimobile. (After I realized it was not a jiger, lol) I thought it was a multimobile. After showing it to a guy I know he said its a mud puppy. I said are you sure and he said there is a tag on it that says it. I edited all my post to say it was a mud puppy and then found more on it that its a multimobile. So I edited everything back, lol. I later received a brochure on the multimobile which confirmed that it is a multimobile with this drive set up. I wonder if it is another off shoot of the jiger like the multimobile and gyp-sea. Same relative(though there are some differences) shell but different organs. Very interesting to hear you have another one which says mud puppy.
Actually I just noticed your from Michigan. The other mud puppy is located on the other side of the state near Sandusky. Brown City I believe. I wonder if the mud puppies where made here somewhere?
