Cool video Ray What I liked most was no matter what happened you were having fun. It really is a blast to fabricate things and see how good they work and kind of revel in your own ingenuity. I think you need a large front atv tire for steering and flotation and drive it. That should get you out of the water in forward and take care of some of the nose dive. Next month I take PLC class RSLogix 500. I have at least one video of germans driving a kettenkrad in my war movie collection.

Hi Chris, Thanks for the comments. I always try to have a good time, no matter what, and try not take myself too seriously. Regarding driving the front tire, this would help for sure, but I think when I get my full swimming tracks on it, I should be able to exit without any problems, but you never know.

PLC's yes I've had my share of courses over the years. I don't know if they still make them, but I programmed Allen Bradley, Modicon, Omron and T.I. I liked Texas Instruments the best back then. Wouldn't mind seeing your Kettenkrad video sometime.

I would have to watch 100 hrs of ww2 video to find it though it might be in the ardeines or battle of the bulge its just a soldier stopping waving his arms yelling then zooming off. I remember because I thought what in the heck is that.I have a lot of tank history also.

Just got in from our Annual Spring Ride at Rick's farm, weather was great, swamps were full of water, lots of mud, perfect AATVing enviroment. Had a mixture of Argo 6x6's, and 8x8's, with one brand new Frontier HDi and a 8x8 HDi. Sad to report that Cam's HDi 8x8 with 30 hours on it, blew the Admiral Tranny, he had no low, no high, no reverse. He could only move by moving tiler quickly left, then right, to get out of the bush, only moving a few feet at a time. We then had to winch him on the trailer, he is going to Argo on Monday.

Also I'm a little disappointed as well I build this helmet cam mount and shot 69 minutes of video, just looked at the footage and it was all blurry. I was playing with the camera and had it set on the macro setting (for extreme close up's) so the whole 69 minutes is all out of forcus

Well the Ket performed exceptionally, meaning I didn't break anything, tracks worked very well, pushed out some stuck Avengers, I only got stuck once, but tried the same path that I got stuck in, and made it through.

This was my first experience with tracks, boy what a difference to tires, you quickly gain confidence that you can go anywhere and not worry about getting stuck. It also makes you take aggressive lines, not worry about anything in your path. They bridge gaps, hole etc, and make the ride very smooth. With the tracks, suspension seat, and front suspension, it made it a pretty cushy ride.

No power or torque issues at all, but when the tracks got super slick with mud, if I got into a real bad area, there were a few times that the tires spun inside the tracks. The good thing is you notice this right away, and just back off a bit and away you go.

Areas that need some improvement are the brakes, I noticed that I quickly lost my aggressive braking power. At the end of the ride, I had no brakes, need to check for leaks or brake adjustment. The brake levers were almost hitting the handlebars. Maybe master cylinders are too small, not enough volume?

Also need to make some fender skirts, the tracks throw a lot of mud

Next ride May 24 Eastern Ontario (Trenton Area)

How many hours did Cam have on his Argo HDI ,8x8 Avenger when the transmission blew? I now feel like I,m driving my new Argo Frontier with a grenade under the hood. I,m starting to think now that I should have kept my Mudd-Ox .

Dave, Cam had 30 hours on it. I'm getting the feeling that there must be some kind of "operator event" that triggers the trouble. Like High to Low on the fly, or Forward to Reverse while still moving. It's rare that something breaks when it's underway with a new transmission. Anyway whatever it is Argo will figure it out, and correct it at no cost to the customer. I also heard that when Argo introduced the old style 2 speed tranny, that it took about a year to get all the bugs out.

Plott, what a joker! Everyone gave him a hard time yesterday, and I threw a few Argo Junk comments (all in fun), and he took it all. The mishap happened at the end of the day, so he still enjoyed most of it. Hey you should come to our May 24 ride in the Trenton area.
