IMG_0727.jpgHey everyone, I just picked up my 1970 Kid 8X8. I didn't even know what one was until I ran across this one. I had to have it! I hog hunt along the river south of Stillwater OK and that's what made me think I needed it. It's yellow, has tires, the fenders, no windshield, all new chains and runs good. I did get three manuals with it and allot of spare chain parts. It doesn't have seats, or choke cable or throttle cable and needs all wired up. I have already found a few places on the web that sell parts and the guy I got it from gave me the number to some guy in Kansas so I think I have a good start on fixing it all up. My plan it to build a basic cage for it and integrate some winch mounts into the cage as I build it. I know I need to keep the weight down as I am doing this. I see them with the dual wheels and tracks and I wonder will I need this, what is really gained or is it just something that makes it cooler. I have read some old threads and I have some ideas from reading them.
Anyhow just wanted to say Hi as a new member and let you all know what I was up to.

Congratulations on your KID. That should make the perfect hog hunting vehicle. Tracks can give you greater surface area contacting the ground which will lower the pressure that you exert. The less pressure you exert, the less you sink. Dual wheels do the same thing. Tracks can also pull you through mud and keep you from getting hung up on things like small fallen trees that could get between your tires. As to whether or not you need them, it depends on the terrain you ride in. Most people can get along fine without them. I would just run the tires and see how well it does.
