I've been dorking around a little bit here and there with the Centipede; basically to just get a couple cracks welded up, get the engine mount done and to develop some sort of mental strategy on what I'd like to do. I really want to keep the green ABS upper unmolested, so I'm trying hard to weld all the cracks in the upper from the back-side only, and then they'll be properly reinforced with goo/mesh and maybe some big HDPE band-aids.

I hope to put a skid plate on the lower tub, so I'm not as concerned with welding up both sides of the cracks. ABS welding is sort of gratifying to me, and I actually enjoy it when it turns out decent. I did a couple last passes on the lower rear corner last night while I wait for the white ABS material to come in for goo. A motor speed control helps to decrease the heat output of the hot air welder. You're supposed to just increase air pressure to reduce the heat level. That usually ends up with about 10 psi of hot air blowing molten plastic all over the place. It's a bad scene.

White shows burn marks worst of all, but I'm pretty happy with how it's coming along.
