That is indeed the Hagen transmission. I've heard that there were some positive reviews about them, but I've never personally seen one perform. Hopefully I will soon now that I have the Newt.

JP, is the power to the wheels hydraulic or are the axles turned with chains and sprockets?

The power to the wheels is with chains and sprockets and the transmission is a gear drive unit. Larry is spot on about the hydraulics being the part that controls the steering. It looks like there are hydraulic actuators which engage and disengage the internal wet clutch packs in the gear driven transmission. It took me some help, and a while to figure it out myself.
