The bands may or may not come unglued due to the gear oil. It depends on when the bands were lined and what adhesives were used to line them. I know several members that have had no issues with bands after the t-20 was flushed and filled with aft III.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Some bands were glued together with an adhesive that does come undone with exposure to gear oil......but not all of them.
When you tear it down, clean the gear oil off the bands well, and inspect for delamination.
I can't say about the trail boss......thats really more of a "how bad do you want it" thing. Just make sure you preplan, and list the expenses before diving in to the project. It's far easier to make sure you don't over spend that way.

My biggest expense is going to be tires....I plan on reusing many of the parts from the sled (the belt, fuel tank, fuel pump, voltage reg and fuse block and some other little bit and pieces)....kinda set me back a bit when I found the oil in the trans...

Not gotten too much done on the Trail Boss as of lately, wifey handed me the "newly revised" honey-do list...lol....I got the rebuild kit for the clutch, and the metal to fab up the engine mount (complete with vibration dampners). I'm going to order a seal kit for the T-20 and keep my fingers crossed when I split it that the bands and drums are in good condition...as you can tell, I'm gonna go forward with the "rebuild"....I'm figuring I'll have right around a grand invested into it when it's done, then I'll have a 6X6 with everything pretty much redone on it and working as it should.

This Trail Boss is for sale and I was thinking about buying it. Unless Big Sal moved to VT I assume at some point down the road he sold it to whoever owns it now. What was the final conclusion to this build? I see it does indeed have the 440 in it, but besides that I am unaware.
