69 scambler questions

hey guys im new to the site and new to 6x6 world i got talked in to trying a 6x6 so i found a 69 scrambler it needs to be gone threw and motor and everything hooked up it came with a 16 hp briggs v twin and new comet clutches. My questions are if you guys know good places to get parts as of now i need bearings a belt and 1 front chain so any help would be great ooh i also need a gas tank and would love to find a skid plat or have any of you built your own. thanks and happy riding love the pics hopfuly i will be posting some soon.

Ok, lot of stuff going on so I'll try to hit them all.

1. Welcome to the site and congrats on your new scrambler.
2. Bearings can be sourced at a local bearing shop or online easily. Many members buy bearings from buffalo bearing in buffalo ny, they can ship anywhere and are very friendly and helpful, but remember to get the outer bearings with an r3 at the end of the part number as it designates the tripple seal and required to hold up in water.
3. Belt, sounds like a custom job, best to line everything up and measure for one. There are belt size charts I've seen on here so use the search feature. It can be your best friend but you may need to guess at key words a few times.
4. Chain, just get on ebay or amazon and buy name brand stuff if you want it to last. Or you can get cheap stuff at tractor supply or pay an arm and a leg for decent stuff at a atv or motorcycle shop.
5. Post a wanted ad on the site for a gas tank.
6. Skid plates can be made of poly using a heat gun. Don't go to thick or you will have trouble forming it.
7. Avoid buying parts from route 6x6/richard clark. He over charges and sells por quality parts. Its a rookie mistake that we try to help people avoid. Some stuff he sells is ok, but his business practices seem shady as he doesnt post pricing and when quotes come out they are rediculious.
8. Put that thing together, go have some fun, and post some pics. If you have problems and need help troubleshooting use the search feature or ask. There are many scrambler experts on here.....not me but others

Just like Drew said, for bearings, Buffalo Bearing are great people to deal with. Their number is (716) 874-1720. Tell them you're with 6X6World and they'll take very good care of you. Also, NEVER deal with Richard Clark/Route6x6......that's a common rookie mistake and people have been burned badly by him. The Briggs Vanguard and Comet clutch combination can't be beat and it'll power your Scrambler VERY well. To post pictures, follow this link, it'll help you out.

What kind of parts are you after? Try posting a wanted ad in the "wanted" section here on the site.

all the bearings listed in the manual will work fine except the outboard axle bearings which req 1 3/16" ID not 30mm. PM me for the number. 41 chain is original but 420 works very well and is allot stronger. the drive belt is available but will take some research. i found one that fits an early H Davidson golf cart. i can also give you the pn for the brake piston seals. pm me with your requirements.

wow i bet that thing will rock with a 16 in it mine goes about 20mph with a 7 hp. in it and still climbs quite well. good luck try to re size your pics.
