I have been a member of this forum for several years now, and I was referring to the price that you quoted as a reference. This is what most forum members offer when some one has money invested in their amphib, but needs to sell it.

OK guys, I think I'll be able to help us out a little with this one. My friend (6X6World member Boncrshr) inquired about this machine when it was on the Anchorage, AK Craigslist about 5 years ago with a $4500 asking price. The seller said it was a prototype machine and it was basically a stretched out standard Swamp Fox (not the taller Super Swamp Fox). The seller also said it had the T-20 transmission, which all Swamp Fox AATVs had, but this one had a two speed gear box attached as well. The tires are 23x10.50x12 garden tractor tires, which probably make for a very rough ride. It's a cool machine, and there really isn't anything else to compare it to for value, besides a regular 6x6. It's really hard to place a value on this, and like people here said, put it on ebay and see what happens. There are so many factors that contribute the the value, including condition, age, location, etc. And the hour meter doesn't really give a true indication of the hours on the machine of that age most likely. Here's your best bet, put lots of good quality pictures here on the site, upload a video, ask for some offers, and go from there. Thanks, and we look forward to seeing more of this machine. It's certainly very cool and unique.

If you want someone that will tell you EVERYTHING about this vehicle, go straight to the source, Mr. Jerry Atkinson, the owner of the Swamp Fox company.

        HI,
Things to note with a swampfox that influence the cost of build
Is the red colour the fibre glass or is it painted
RED was an original f glass colour
If it is painted the type and quality of paint needs determining
EG wrong paint equals many long hours sanding

Fibre glass can suffer ""f/glass cancer "" = glass matt will turn into black sludge .Others will be able to explain this easier than me. This problem is commmon in the boating world.Repair by sandblasting and grind out then reglass area .

Inspect under the main chassis and body in the 6x6 there is a fglassed timber that turns to dust .[must repair ]
Does the 8x8 have the same timber /glassed reinforced floor under chasssis ?????

This is a very unique machine. Bought at a bargain price. I never criticize a good deal as there is always the legal concept of offer and acceptance involved. My understanding is that all of the Swamp Fox machines that had the two speed transmission were hydraulic transmissions. Can the owner clarify this? Also it would be nice to see some detail photos to figure out the mechanical aspect of this brute.

Everything else aside, this machine should be pretty fun in the big swamps or flatlands. What engine does it have? It would take some hp to move such a large machine. I'm anxious to see more info on the beast.

I can't give an estimate on such a machine, but if the shipping wasn't such a killer, you'd have LOTS of offers.
UShip.com got my machine delivered straight to my house, rolled it off the trailer right into the shop. Never even cranked the truck, and it cost less than the gas alone would have been to drive and pick it up myself.

This machine has a Kholer Magnum 20 engine. The hunter orange color is painted, and I think it's more of a blaze orange than red.

I now have this machine! My first and I know nothing about 6X6 or 8X8. All I know is the engine runs. It had water in the tub that was frozen and would not let it move. I am going to let it thaw and see what happens

I'll need to see some pictures, but based on the body lines in the beginning of this thread, i think this machine is based on a Super Swamp Fox. The distance between the belly join line and the lower tub seems to be in line with the SSF setup. I don't have any direct measurments from a standard Swamp Fox, but I think that the largest difference in the bodies is that the lower tub has been bumped up to accomodate larger tires. If this is the case and you're running the "stock" clearance, 26" tires (and some tires labeled 27") will fit on that body.

                    We need pictures.
                    Badly.

Yes, we need pics. We'd love to see LOTS of them. If my memory is correct, when I saw the Craigslist ad for the Swamp Fox 8x8 it had 23x10.50x12 garden tractor tires and wheels on it, and they just fit, so I think it could have been based on a standard Swamp Fox, but I really can't say for sure. Pictures will tell us a TON more.

I think this machine would really be a handful, the width and the added length, would be a real detriment to maneuvability. It would also take at least 40 hp to move this machine around at a decent clip. Add to that the lack of ground clearance and the approach and departure angles, and I think it would go no where fast.
