  • Hurricane Sandy..

Well, im surprised no one has started this thread yet guys/gals. Lets have details of how everyones making out? Hydromike is prolly runnin around like a nut making sure all his machines got plugs in em...waitin for the storm to get there. lol For some of us below him though, i hope yinz had plugs in already! I see George was posting pictures N such on FB. Crazy stuff george!! I seen Robbie posting on FB too, but not pictures of flood stuff. (LOL...i wont say what though) How's everyone else holding up? Don is gettin pounded right now by looks of radar and according to family members that are like 45 mins from his house. I aint seen posts from either of his kids so i dunno?.. maybe they aint got power? I hope everyone makes it through without any problems!!

Here in my country, ive had enough rain to make me happy for all of about 30 seconds..im done..lol It can stop ANYTIME! turn to snow already!! GEESH! Which im sure some of yinz are already seeing snow. So hope i see some 6x6 videos on here of guys playing, or helping out! I know as a 6x6 family (even though i dont got one anymore) i think of most of you pretty highly! I hope the best for everyone, and send prayers to all those that need them!!

Hope everybody else is okay out there. We're fine here, but have lost power a couple times so far. One good thing about livin' on the side of a mountain is that the water always has a place to go! Bad thing is that there's no place to park the cars away from under trees that may fall on them any time (garage space is taken up with amphibs). I'm glad someone's heard from George- we were worried about him out on Long Island.

Everybody be safe and go play in the water once the storm is done!

All's well up here, Wagz. We were all hoping for about a 15 degree temp drop with the front coming through two days ago, which would mean all snow for us, instead of a few inches of rain. Rain is great, but it's a lot more fun dealing with snow, quite frankly. We're getting a little wind, and a little rain, but I'm surprised that it's getting as much hype up here as it is. We don't have a storm surge, and have a pretty big reservoir that takes as much water as you can throw at it, at a pretty good pace, provided you didn't build on a flood plain.

The folks that live on and near the coast are in a much more precarious situation. Coastal flooding and the uninhibited winds are a lot more of a concern. I wonder how the Stobinski family is doing down in 'Jersey.... Any folks been in contact with them?

I'm still kicking here. I lost an evergreen out front and lights have been flickering. The wind gives me the creeps....

Spoke with Marc yesterday. He told me he's in an area that is not prone to flooding.

Here are some pictures I took at the first high tide. The high tide we're having now is the one messing up the city. I'd love to go out and snap some more photos but there are lines down everywhere.

Stay safe, George. It looks pretty bad down your way. Good thing you've got amphibious capability at your disposal if need be.

[QUOTE=Model Citizen;130759]Talked to family in Cleveland & even there it's pretty creepy right now & the worst hasn't gotten there yet.

I think the worst is now here and will be spending the day in Cleveland. Wind is quite steady along with the rain. Coming to work this morning, didn't see a lot of stuff down however, the shoreway (I-90) was closed between E 55th and the Bratenhal exits,I'm sure Lake Erie is all over the road there.Yesterday morning while passing that area the waves were hitting the corners of the breakwaters and shooting up a good 30-40'.All in all everyone appears to be coping with it,so that's a big help. Glad to here our east coast members are faring well.

Dad had his plugs in his Attex, that wasn't starting again as of Sunday. I had some good gusts last night in Pittsburgh, think my back screen door is sticking and the main deadbolt doesn't align as well... may need to look at water/foundation issues. My sister in Ligonier has it the worst, but is still pretty lucky. They evacuated houses at the end of her street due to flooding. She has about 1 in of water in part of her basement, and is lucky due to still having power and the sump pump running. They also had a little snow.

Did really well up here in the Southeastern CT Coast .. The Jiger survived its ordeal wonderfully but the shelter it was in needs a little refurbishing before I can start the body work on the Jiger Restoration.

Good to hear. I just saw he was on the FaceBooks, but no reply. I got mah powerz back today. Since I'm Putnam Highway, I've been working pretty much round the clock till this evening. I'm in the lower Hudson Valley for those who aren't aware, and it's pretty messed up here. I didn't suffer any losses at all outside of power and generator gas $$$$$. I'm glad I fueled up and filled up gas cans, I've seen 100+ car lines at the open stations. Anyone hear from the Jersey guys like JerseyBigfoot??? Hope they did OK...
