The gas prices here in Canada are really no better. What we have to consider is basic supply and demand. The more we demand the less they supply so they can charge more for it.

Check out the following link.... Gasoline and diesel usage and pricing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    Turkey at almost USD $10.00/gallon
Venezeula at a big USD $00.09/gallon
    and everything in between.....
Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.

Wikipedia is never a very 'scholary' source. The EDIT button at the top of the page is a pretty scary thought, given that anyone and everyone can put whatever they want on there, regardless of accuracy. That's a pretty interesting link Mike. A lot of good info on there.

I have also seen prices very similar to those listed on several other site. As well as seen prices in my travels around the world that were accurate to those listed...

Having said that I did NOT notice the edit button....scary tought that anyone can change the info.....I guess the net is only as good as the person uploading the info.....

i was informed by a friend who works at a refinery that Red apple/Kwik Fill uses american made gasoline. so thats where i been buying mine. I seem to get better gas mileage too oddly enough..i dunno if its just a coincidence, but it could be possible?

As for mikes link, yes it is full of interesting stuff...however...is it all true?..or is this a funded type of information database? (sure..i know..yinz prolly think i'm nuts...) but somewhere along lthe lines, someone could be collecting revenue to make false statements thus influencing ppls ideas n such. i mean cmon...its the internet...lol very few places online do i consider credible. This site being one of the very few i consider credible. lol hence why i'm on here all the time!! Oh, and facebook...no one ever lies on there..BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

The company that ownes the stores you speak of is part of a refinery in Warren pa that I personally have seen trucks with almost all logo's going out of. Gas is a complicated industry and many gas stations are still locally owned mom and pop shops. Sometimes you are doing them a favor by not buying gas from them because they are contracted at a poor rate, but you might want to patronize the small guy for all your other stuff many times they are priced better than chains inside the store.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

haha, yeah nobody ever lies on facebook!!! As far as Kwik Fill is concerned, I have always (except one time when I needed gas at 5am and K/F didn't open til 6 ) bought my gas there and have never had any problems. I think it is one of the better companies out there and will continue using them and I will keep using them!

The problem is the governments allow companies to SPECULATE on FUTURE oil prices, creating a VIRTUAL shortage.

The Fix for High Oil Prices? Regulate the Speculators - DailyFinance

free market is not a great idea :

Last time we had a huge run-up in oil prices was 2008 when oil hit $147 a barrel. When the Commodities Futures Trading Commission -- the body that's charged with keeping the trading pits honest -- investigated, it discovered that 81% of the trading volume in oil was being conducted by speculators. Put another way, businesses that actually use the oil, such as airlines, were doing just 19% of the trading. The vast majority was done by hedge funds and investment banks to make a quick buck.

Wal-Mart's "in-house" gas stations are Murphy USA, a small Arkansas-based refinery. I'm not a fan of Wally World, but at least I do know that Murphy is an honest-to-goodness American gas supplier for my vehicles' fuel needs. If I don't buy from them then I buy just down the road at a BP station (British Petroleum). No mid-east crude in thier juice. Most other gas station companies in my neck of the woods utilize either Venzuelan or Mid-East sources for their fuel products.

                          Anyhow... that's my $.02

It's a U.S. Gov't website, so yeah... it's funded. In part, by you. Kwik-Fill, along with a good portion of the U.S. gets the bulk of its crude oil from Canada (thanks neighbor!)

References: ftp://ftp.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/pe...nt/import.html. Another U.S. Gov't website; this is updated monthly.

...and the United Refining (Kwik-Fill/Red Apple) story in the Erie-Times: Comments spark call for Citgo boycott | GoErie.com/Erie Times-News
The article is a bit vague: "Gas sold at United Refining's 373 Country Fair and Kwik Fill stations comes from the Warren refinery, which has been using mainly Canadian crude oil."

So, sure. It's American "refined", but it's (or was at least at one point) "foreign oil".
