Wanted to share an interesting story with you guys. For the past year, I have been working for my mom and dad in their magazine company. They have a magazine called Healthy Cells Magazine and another called 50 Plus News and Views (which I am buying out in the near future) Since I have started working for them, they pretty much let me have the reigns with the News and Views magazine. Its pretty much all stuff for seniors, and me being only 29 I wanted to kinda "youngin" it up a bit. So I started doing a monthly article called "Blast from the Past". I go to car shows, find senior with a classic car, I take pictures of the car and then go on to write an article about the ownership history, and restoration. Then I write about the actual vehicle history, of why the manufacture, designed the car the way it did. Its been catching on pretty well, a lot better than I thought it would.
Yesterday I got a call from a guy about a half hour North of me, that about made me fall out of my chair! This guy asked if I was the one writing the car articles, when I said I was, he said he would really like to get his cars in. He said he has a 1987 Buick Grand National GNX! I couldnt believe it! A real GNX! If you dont know what a GNX is, it was a Grand National, but one of 547 made as a commemorative fair-well. EXTREMELY rare, highly collectible and best of all, very very fast! Those cars were known as the "vette killers" and would run low 13's right off the lot! He said its #157, and mint condition.
Then he told me about his other car....1966 Dodge Charger with a 426 HEMI!!!
5spd manual, tweaked to about 750 hp, and a total sleeper! Not tubbed, or anything like that, he said if you didnt know what was under the hood, you would think it was an original restoration with the exception of some nice wheels! Then he says, yea I got those, a Viper, a new Challenger and Charger (both SRT8) and a few other muscle cars here and there. He asked if Id be interested in getting them in the magazine, and I said ABSOLUTELY!!!! So im heading out there this weekend to take some pictures!
I used to have a Grand National in high school, and man talk about fun to drive! But mine was an 84 (non intercooled). it was fast, but not stupid fast. I told him about it and he said—so when was the last time you drove a turbo car? I told him its been about 11 years since I blew up the motor on mine. Then he said—ever drive a HEMI? NOPE! He said i tell ya what, you come out there this weekend, and maybe you can drive both of them!!!
I about did a cart wheel when I got off the phone! If anyone on here is interested in seeing these cars, I can post pictures if you want! just let me know! Have a good one everyone!
