I'm really hoping we don't pull another last year at this point. Last weekend dad's truck needed a replacement fuel pump that turned into a gas tank replacement as well. Today he lost the starter right before work (works night shift). I get to go pick him up in about 1 hr. He's off tomorrow for a marathon build/test/tune session. I've been ordering last minute parts and bought a portable 3 gal marine fuel tank today just to make sure I'm running. Barring any more unforeseen issues (like my cracked/broken fiberglass seat that I just spent the night repairing), we should hopefully be there by late Fri. At least we know how to make throttle cables this year and we are driving another rental!

You're absolutely right, Larry! I love the 4.7. It took me a few years to find a low mile Dakota 2wd reg cab 4.7 5 speed, but I was so happy once I did. There are folks out there that put the Mopar High Output cams in them, the HO intake manifold, big thorttle bodies, 3" exhaust, intake, and an SCT tuner and are able to run high 13's, low 14's and still get 20-something miles per gallon. That's my next project soon to come.Originally posted by LarryW View PostThe 4.7l is only about 20 horse shy of a 360. Beyond a 318 which is cool as the 4.7 = 287 I believe? something like that. But the 360 does have a torque advantage. The 4.7 just walks away from the 5.2 though
The overhead cams make the difference I think.
This ash trip is going to be soo much fun. Looking forward to see all you far away internet friends!!!D Buckhtnr17 and are planing on leaving here around 10ish.
I've got a pretty good feeling that this is going to be the best AATV event that I've ever been to.......even bigger and better than last year! And last year was hard to top. Safe travels, and I'll see everyone soon! Now the only problem will be falling asleep tonight, the excitement factor is through the roof right now.

I will probably still be on the road at that time so give a call, make the trip a little easier. The wife will probably be out like a light. lolOriginally posted by George View PostI'll be on the road at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon. Will anyone still be up between midnight and 1:00 Thursday night/ Friday morning?

I'll be up, so feel free to give me a call. I might be in downtown Cleveland to cause/get into some trouble but if there's slim pickens I'll probably be back to camp.Originally posted by George View PostI'll be on the road at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon. Right now I'm still packing and getting ready. The excitement levels are growing and sleeping tonight might be a bit difficult. I have the trailer loaded down heavy too. Three machines, my Thunderchief racer, Hydromike's Attex 8x8, and another mystery machine on the back. I'm very impressed with the power of my little 2wd regular cab Dakota......that 4.7 V8 with a 5 speed pulls very well. Some of us Buffalo area 6x6World members are convoying down tomorrow morning so we'll be getting in right around lunch time. Drive safe and I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Give somebody a call when you're close, George. I'm sure a few of us will still be involved in long, drawn-out BS sessions.
