2012 Side by Side RULES

BundyHill Offroad Park, Jerome, Mi UTV Challenge 7-1-12
Thought I'd post this along with the rules.
Who's going?
Here's the rules:
GENERAL RULES:
1. The UTV race will be a one (1.5) hour race starting at 2:00 pm, or as soon thereafter as possible.
2. UTV registration will be held day of the race from 10am-1pm
3. Drivers are responsible for the actions of their entire pit crew.
4. Teams will be disqualified for driving on a course during the 7 days prior to, or the day of the event.
5. AMA membership is not required.
6. Bundy Hill Offroad does not provide medical insurance for competitors, we urge you not to compete without it. Medical insurance is the sole responsibility of the competitor.
COMPETITOR ELIGIBILITY:
1. Teams: Competitors will register as a Team. A Team consists of a driver and a passenger. Teams may switch drivers and/or passenger from event to event.
2. Age: All competitors, including drivers and passengers, must be at least 18 years old.
MACHINE ELIGIBILITY AND CLASSIFICATION:
1. Open Modified: (751-Open cc) Production models. Engine and suspension modifications permitted.
2. Sportsman: (751-Open cc) Production models. The following limited items can be changed or added: tires, wheels, bumpers, skid plates, air box, filter, fuel controller, and exhaust not to exceed 94dbl. No other suspension or internal motor modifications permitted. Bed supports may be removed. Frame reinforcements are permitted. Clutch and ignition changes permitted. After market production roll cages are permitted so long as they maintain OEM material specifications and OEM mounting locations.
3. Production Rule: OEM motor and matching frame combination 4-wheel drive model required. Frame geometry must remain as designed by the OEM.
EQUIPMENT:
1. Machine Width can be a maximum 60 inches.
2. The following equipment is required for all machines:
a. Seat belt restraints, securely fastened on both occupants at all times;
b. Full roll cages;
f. Silencer/Muffler;
g. Fire Extinguisher are highly suggested and should be clearly mounted and easily retrievable
h. Working Kill/Off Switch clearly marked and easily available for officials/the public to pull. Key switch must have a B H O approved marking
3. The following gear is required for all competitors:
a. Helmets;
b. Protective eyewear; and
c. Closed toe shoes, long pants and sleeved shirts (fire suit suggested BUT not required).
4. The machine and team leaves the starting line must be the official machine of the team for that event, and may not be switched during the event.
5. Fuel can only be carried inside the machine's fuel tank.
6. Machine sound level cannot exceed 94 dbs.
7. Turbo and Supercharging are prohibited.
8. Machines may be tested by officials any time prior to, during or after the event the discretion of the BHO Official’s.
REGISTRATION:
1. Competitors will be identified by the Team name. Both the driver and the passenger must be present at registration and sign all required forms.
2. Teams must register for the race before operating their machine anywhere on the UTV challenge course or in the pit area. Drivers may not exceed 5 mph when traveling to/from their pit area, and occupants must always wear a helmet. All competitors must park in Pit Area. Non competitors must park in designated parking.
3. Teams will receive three numbered plates. Place the numbered plates on the front, on the passenger side, and one behind the driver on the roll cage.
START PROCEDURE:
1. Teams will be assigned a Start Row. Teams shall line up on their assigned row when directed by the race official. No one is permitted on the starting line until authorized.
2. A Drivers Meeting will be conducted on the starting line before the start of each race. All competitors are responsible for attending.
3. The start of the race will be a live engine, rolling start, as follows:
a. Teams will roll up to the Start Line when directed and stop;
b. The Official will throw the green flag signaling the start of the row;
c. The next row will roll up to the start and stop, awaiting the Official's signal;
d. Rows will start approximately 5-10 seconds apart.
4. Teams starting before the green flag signal will be penalized.
SCORING:
1. There will be one checkpoint at the Finish Line. Machines must come to a complete stop at the Finish Line checkpoint. The section from the Finish Line to the Finish Line Checkpoint is a "No Passing" zone.
2. Teams may only pit in designated PIT AREA.
THE COURSE:
1. A B H O UTV course will be 2 miles in length, and may include trails, footpaths, roads, hills, motocross tracks, or any type of terrain which can be navigated by a UTV.
2. The course will be open to inspection Saturday. Teams are permitted to walk or bicycle the course only.
3. Marking, cutting, tampering with or otherwise changing the course in any manner is strictly prohibited. Course modifications may only be made by an official.
4. No one, except officials and drivers officially entered, may drive on the race course at any time during the event.
ON TRACK REGULATIONS:
1. Machines must remain on the marked course.
2. Teams encountering a traffic jam or bottleneck may go more than 25 feet off the course to get around the bottleneck only. However, the Team must re-enter the course as soon as possible, and upon approaching this section the next lap, must drive the original arrowed section if the track is clear. If the original marking devices are knocked down, the Team must stay on the original marked course regardless. A "bottleneck" is a section of the track that becomes impassable for any reason, with the exception of check points.
3. Machines may not cut to the inside of a white pole corner marker.
4. If a machine leaves the course for any reason it must re-enter where it left.
5. Teams may make repairs and otherwise receive mechanical assistance anywhere along the course from anyone. All such repairs and assistance must be made without causing interference with other competitors in a suitable area off the racetrack.
6. Internal Radio communication is permitted between drivers and passengers, but not between driver/passengers and pit crew members.
7. Reckless Driving. No driver may operate his machine in such a manner as to endanger life or limb of other competitors, officials or the public. Drivers will be penalized for the reckless operation of their machine, including but not limited to the deliberate ramming, blocking or intentional contact with another Team, or for running into an official. Competitors are solely responsible for their own safety.
8. Team Tactics are prohibited, and include but are not limited to: blocking, allowing another Team to pass in order to affect the outcome of the race, or exchanging machines in order for another Team to continue the race. Teams involved will be penalized.
9. Unsportsmanlike Conduct. Persons whose appearance, conduct, associations or affiliations, on or off the track, deemed not conducive to the best interest of this sport or who exhibit conduct which is inappropriate, offensive, abrasive or in bad taste, may be excluded or suspended from B H O at the discretion of the Race Official’s.
Competitors engaged in any event, public appearance, media activity or any other situation relating to their participation in the series must refrain from intentional physical contact with any participant, inappropriate or profane language, fraud, and unsportsmanlike behavior. At the sole discretion of B H O, competitors who exhibit behaviors deemed inappropriate or unsportsmanlike, prejudicial or detrimental to the best interests of the sport, or detract from the enjoyment, appreciation or interests of the fans, sponsors or other supporters of the sport, may be penalized by monetary fine, docking of championship points, or both. Such penalties are not subject to protest or appeal.
RACE FINISH :
1. The race officially ends for all contestants at the completion of the lap in which the checkered flag is displayed to the winner.
2. To be considered as having completed a lap, the driver and his machine must cross the plane of the checkered flag under the machine's unaided ability. Towing is not allowed. If a machine is towed in from the course, that lap will not count.
3. Machines will be scored in order of finish and laps completed. It is not necessary to complete all laps in order to be scored.
4. Results: Teams have 30 minutes to finish the race after the overall winner takes the checkered flag.
5. Awards are given after the event in pit area.
7. Protests must be in writing and specify the grounds for the protest.
8. Penalties will be assessed at the discretion of the official based on the severity of the offense, and may include one or more of the following: position(s), lap(s), time adjustment, disqualification, suspension, loss of championship points, fine, probation, etc.

Bundy Hill Offroad Park Rules
The following rules are to be acknowledged and respected by everyone who enters Bundy Hill Off Road Park!
By signing a release & waiver of liability, you understand and have agreed to all rules!
*No one under the age of 18 is allowed to check-in-without a parent or legal guardian. You cannot check in
someone else's child, this also applies to stepparents, without a notarized consent forms, waiver and medical
information. Forms are available at Bundy Hill's registration office, on our Website.
1. No alcohol, illegal drugs, firearms, or weapons are allowed on Bundy Hill property. No person may be under
the influence of alcohol or drugs. Coolers will be checked prior to entering the park.
2. All participants must check-in at the registration office, (driver/rider/passenger) and must fill out a current
waiver or present a Valid I.D. with your Yellow Member Card
3. All minors, (driver/rider/passengers) under age 18, when not accompanied by a parent, must bring signed
and notarized minor form with them. Minors (with ID) age 14 years or older will be allowed to operate an ATV’s
or Dirt Bike’s in the Park without a parent present if they have an O.R.V. Safety Certificate.
4. Helmets must be worn at all times when ATV/dirt bike is in motion. Children under the age of 16 must also
wear helmets in side by sides. This includes roads to and from the gate and parking area. Everyone is required
to wear a shirt, appropriate outwear and enclosed foot wear.
5. No double riding on vehicles' with manufactures warnings prohibiting more than one rider. Seat belts must
be worn in Side by Side's and 4x4's, a roof or roll bar is required or a helmet must be worn.
6. Please control your Vehicle! Speed limit for everyone is 15 mph in the parking areas and on all main and two
way roads
7. Parking lot is for parking. No tricks or horse play. Please do not cause commotion or damage to other
vehicles. You will be held responsible!
8. No blind jumping. Hills may not have a back side. BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS
9. Travel only where motorized vehicles are permitted. Don't Blaze New Trails, or ride in the farmers' fields, you
are trespassing, and may be prosecuted by the field owner.
10. Warning! Avoid Crossing lakes, swamp and mud areas, they may be bottomless.
11. No disorderly conduct; no littering; This includes the parking lot as well as the trails. PLEASE RECYCLE ALL
PLASTIC CONTAINERS, CARDBOARD & GLASS
12. All SUV/4X4's must have at least one tow point (example: tow hook or receiver hitch). Front and rear tow
points are mandatory for the harder trails along with a winch and locker.
13. All trail equipped vehicles must have a flag. All SUV's must have the following: proper rollover protection
(i.e. roll bar, roof) battery tie down, seatbelts for everyone in the vehicle, tow point, trash bag for liquid spills,
flag and wristbands. We suggest that with all street legal ORV's/4x4's, follow your State’s requirements for
registration and insurance.
WE HAVE A ZERO TOLERANCE IN REGARDS TO BRINGING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES INTO OUR PARK! If
caught, your member card will be taken, you will be suspended from future visits to Bundy Hill Offroad Park.
Participants that disregard the rules of Bundy Hill Offroad or pose a safety threat to themselves or others will,
at a minimum, be ejected from the Park without a refund Bundy Hill's staff, if able, will do their best to offer
assistance, but are not required nor should be expected to recover, repair or escort non-emergencies out of
the park. VEHICLES OR MACHINES NOT THRU THE GATE AT CLOSING WILL BE CHARGED $20. PER HALF
HOUR. Private companies not related to Bundy Hill may be available for vehicle recovery and towing. There is
