I'm in eastern PA for a wedding right now then making my way west Sunday but, I'll try to call you in a day or two, Evil.

Dad has a Superchief and 70's springer racer. Possibly also a 70's Max racer and/or Rim Racer by next week as well.

I didn't get a chance to post in the video section where Evil8x8 posted the video of our little outing.
It was very nice to ride with some other forum members. The trails were very nice along with a pond. I managed to get stuck a few times, but Cole was always close by to pull me out. It was good to finally put some names with faces and BS about ATVs.
I didn't get a chance to swap machines with Cole, but Mike managed some stick time in the Max IV.

I did discover that reversing the front tires on my max really killed my water speed. I already changed them back to stock. Next time I'll show them how a Max IV rally goes in the water!

We all had a blast. Can't wait to go riding with you again. Next time we will swap machines forshore. I was really impressed with you Max IV. My GPS clocked me as going 24.5 mph and you blew right by me with 3 people in your machine!!!

Next time I may even have an Argo to bring You will have to reverse your tires to see if it gains water speed. I'll have to leak check my machine and see why I'm getting too much water in the hull. I'd like to play in the pond some more.

I took the family out yesterday around the house. I had some issues with my machine starving for fuel. I just cleaned the carb earlier and put it together and it idled much better. It ran great for 20 minutes and after I floored it on an open stretch, it just died and then picked back up and then died again. I guess there's something else in there starving it for fuel.

Lance, I had that same problem for months. It would run fine for hours but every now and then it only run with the choke on. I cleaned the carb and nothing. Then all of a sudden it would run fine. I replaced the fuel line, fuel pump, drained the old fuel, and even replaced the brass fittings on the tank.

It happened again at Carolina Adventure World and I finally found the problem. That bottom port that lets fuel flow from the bowl to the rest of the carb must have had just a little trash in it. I had to pull the whole fan shroud, intake, etc to get the carb off. Then I could take a bolt off the side of the carb that allows you to access that port. A small screwdriver is all it takes to remove it.

The other times that I cleaned the carb, that was the only port that I didn't clean because I never took the carb all the way off. I would spray carb cleaner down at the port and a little would flow through so I assumed it was fine.

Just an idea if you didn't clean that one.

I am able to remove the plug.

I didn't have any carb cleaner. (I poked a hole in the can while we were riding Thursday )

The brass thing just inside the plug is the main jet. I blew it out with air, but I need to get in there with some carb cleaner to make sure. I'll make sure I don't miss anything this time. I'll also remove the jet and the idle mixture screw.

              Thanks for the tip.

                Dad's Superchief update...

He finally looked into the "poor running condition" last year that was caused by 1. a vacuum leak 2. gummed up fuel in the carb. He was able to fix the vacuum leak, cleaned the carb, got new fuel and even figured out some sort of patch for the muffler - just in time to plow some driveways in the neighborhood.

We should go back to the this location again in May to "test run" our racers before hitting Ashtabula. Annie and I will probably be back around 5/20 so, that may give us a little time to tinker.

Dad also mentioned that one of the old Tru-Way racing crew (Rick) ended up w/ a few of my uncle's old Attexes and may be looking to build a racer. He is also looking for a good used T-20 locally (Greensburg/New Alexandria area). I don't have Rick's info but, if any of you have one, I'll pass your info on to my dad for him.
