  • Clone engine running temp.

What temp should these engines run at? Mine is running very hot. I've rejetted it some but still it hot. This is in my attex. What can I do to help cool the engine down?

Have you considered something like this?

I actually made an air duct that forces the air over the head and out.

If you header wrapped the exhaust, and have good fresh cooling air in and out of the compartment. I'd rejet again. try .039" or slightly bigger ( 1.0mm to 1.05mm) Be careful going bigger than that. If you are drilling it yourself, and you go too big, you can solder it shut and start over again.
I'd also try running without the engine cover on just to make sure it's not a cooling air issue.

Header is wrapped. Air duct blowing the hot air out. So far I've jetted to .041 and the plug is still to white. Fresh air isnt a problem, put a radiator fan on my dads cover and his is the same. Going to keep rejetting until the plug looks good and then go from there.

"Air duct blowing the hot air out."

I don't know what your air mgt ducting looks like but in my opinion it is most important to provide the engine an unlimited supply of fresh INTAKE air.The hot air will find it's way out on it's own,it has no other choice since more air is comming down the line at all times.. Just some observations I made when having issues with overheating while building my Attex project.

I'm going to look at making a fresh air intake duct along with rejetting.

An oil temp of 340 degrees is about normal for an air cooled engine, I don't think a hot running engine will make your plug white but a white plug will make the engine hot.

After lots of plug checks and rejetting. Ended up having to go up 13 jet sizes and the plug finally looks good and temps seem right.
