I have a 14 vanguard and can not get that to pull out with a plyers. Maybe I don't even have that restrictor

I now have bures everywhere from trying to get restrictors out that maybe the previous owner already did...

Also need to mention that a timing advance key is worth some more power. Jersey Bigfoot claims to help a lot. I have not done mine yet, but its on the list of things to try for cheap power.

I like to use these adapters from Al with those intakes, lets you bolt on a lot of different carbs if one would decide to run more compression, cams etc.

Just thought I would show the difference between heads, cheap way to add compression/hp to the 16, 18 and 20's. the left is the 12/14hp the middle is the 16 and right is the 18/20. you can see the difference in the chambers which will add compression, all fit each other and use the same valves, port size N valvetrain. the steel heads gaskets help also. these heads can also be installed on the 23hp but you need to switch to the 20hp intake and change the exhaust flanges and add the hi torque starter. carb jetting and or replacement will need to be made and is better suited for the guys that don't run the governor.

Looks like Al shortened up the two barrel adapter N turned the flange horizontal, the top of that 36mm is only 3.5" above the rocker covers.
