Dads 02' FD620 with 590 hours on it locked up. He said the oil light came on at low idel a few time. He started it a couple times after it sat a while, I just brought it to my house to pull the motor and look for a replacement or rebuild.....any thoughts???

Lack of oil, old green hasn't gone in to moose camp in a number of years but dad uses it on the homestead to haul in wood, lots of wood.
I'm hoping she in good enough shape to rebuild, the oil doesn't smell burnt so maybe I'll get lucky, he was just idling it back to the barn when it shutdown the first time.

I'm way to far to guess but have you removed the valve covers to see if the pushrods are on and it's not compression locked? Or have you removed the spark plugs? Kawasaki oil lights will flicker if the idle is low enough. We also had an issue with a carb filling the crankcase full.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.

photo (2).jpgWe'll I got her apart and found a broken oil pump gear laying in the bottom. I've pulled one head off and the cylinder looks good. So at this point I'm thinking I'll rebuild it.
