Briggs vtwin Tach

Do the Auto-Meter Jr. Dragster tachs work on the briggs vtwin? I hook it up and reads twice the RPM. Worked on single cylinder engines.

How is it triggered? Is it a 2 stroke or 4 stroke model or setting? The Briggs will spark on every flywheel revolution, compression and exhaust strokes, so it needs to be set up for a 2 stroke motor and not for the typical 4 stroke which only sparks on the compression stroke...... There are other tachs out there that are a bit easier to read than the digital ones, and the digital ones often get confused with sensitivity too. Try more or less wraps around the plug wire (providing that's your trigger), as little as one wrap, to as much as 6. That may or may not help???

We use these, can also use the shift light to remind you to back off if its non governed.

I have great results with a 2 channel Digitron, I also read the engine oil temp with a probe in the spare oil drain with the second channel.

So the jr. dragster tachs work on the vtwins if you hook the sensor lead it to the kill terminal of one of the coils between the coil and diode.

Look for a tach that will trigger off a plug wire. If you want a good full sized tach, this is what I have on the blue MaxII. Amazon.com: Equus 8068 Tachometer - White Dial: Automotive
It comes with the clamp on inductive pick-up for around the plug wire and can be set for the spark on every revolution.
