30 hp vanguard. What clutch?

I am building a tracked vehicle for ice fishing. I have a t20 transmission and plan on putting a 30 hp vanguard big block on it. The t20 cam out of a max II and has original clutch on it. The motor in it is a Polaris 2 stroke. Does not look like a 780 clutch. What clutch should I put on the motor?

Do you mean the Briggs 31HP Vanguard? If that's the case, you'll need a Comet (1190 I believe is the number) clutch for a 1-1/8 keyed shaft. You could also probably get by with a Comet 94C Duster clutch for a 1-1/8" shaft. The smaller clutch in the background of this pic is the 780 and this model will only work for engines with a 1" keyed shaft).

I don't know off the top of my head, but the clutch in the link I provided is all set up for 4 stroke engines. You will need to match the driven clutch spring with the drive clutch. You will also need a red or green 4 stroke driven clutch spring to put in to the one that's on your transmission if the Max originally had a 2 stroke engine in it. The RPM engagement for 4 strokes will be 1700-1800. Depending on your engine and machine requirements you may be able to fine tune that a little lower. Tuning the clutches is a very time consuming trial and error process. It is best to order it/them as close as possible to what you need, and hope it's good enough.
