sorry i missed where it said ebay. i thought he was just talking about a brand new from a dealer or something. yes if you could repower it for that off ebay be a cheaper way to go for sure as long as specs was the same.

You just need it to have a 1" keyed shaft. The governor spring, clutch, and exhaust can all be swapped onto a new motor. Brand New Engines and Small Engine Warehouse have done no reserve $1 starting bid auctions in the past, and I have had good luck winning at a more than fair price.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

yeah i found a large quanity of vertical not horizontal new for $850 new free shipping.. It is locked up tight. I tried to turn it today with no luck. I tried both directions. Its still out side with a foot of snow in it so didnt mess with taking the starter off yet.

ok not a good sign.. took the spark plugs out.. both were dry.. would not turn over. Pulled the engine,, took the starter off. Still cannot turn over with the crank rope. its doesnt even wiggle. No signs of oil leaking.

sorry for all the updates guys.. but i just got it unstuck. Its really hard to pull the rope. but I can pull it with the rope Im not sure where to go from here. It being really hard to pull when it hits a certain spot. do you think something is bent? What would you do?

you will have to know shaft dia.,shaft length, and key size, and if the crank is tappered or not. youll have to pull motor out to measure unless you get the engine numbers off and look up the specs on crank shaft and even then i would pull motor out to measure the shaft length.

i would say due to lack of lube and friction which is heat cause the piston arm to contain heat and it seized the piston arm to crank. it maybe be possible to break it down replace rings and pistn and arms and clean crank with new gaskets and it might be good to go. but on the other could be more major than that. you said you did put oil back in it right and then it didnt show on stick but no leaks. but i dont think it ran long enough for it to burn oil dry. hard to tell without a proper breakdown.

yeah.. im beginning to wonder did I forget to put the oil in it a few months ago maybe.. After I pulled the rope a few times with the engine out it seems to feel about normal. I ran it so little the day it shut down I think you could grab the muffler.

it doesnt take to long to seize it up with no oil as you found out. good thing is that you wasnt running it under a load or high rpms. bad news is what did it do. my opinion is very little when it got hot it seized up and when it got cool up pulled rope to free it up. with a little oil in there it might be ok.

I would bolt it back in and let it spin over a bit with the starter and the plugs out, let it build some oil pressure first then install the plugs and fire it up. nothing to loose at this point and it just may come out of it.

I checked this morning a little oil under it. So maybe it did leak out before. I am thinking when all the gas got dumped in the oil it thinned it and messed up a gasket. Oil and gas WAS coming out everywhere the that happened. Then when I changed the oil.... ran it, it was fine. I thought! It then sit about 3 months and the oil leaked out. It wasn't as easy as pulling the rope to free it up. I put a pipe wrench on the clutch and turned it. But it feels pretty normal cranking it.. even sitting on the floor not bolted down. Which is hard to do. And I do know the pistons are moving up and down. So you all would not tear down,,,, look at it and change the piston and rings??

i would but thats me. but i would take a little oil and put in the spark plug oil and just ease it over to make sure it has oil to the rings and cyclinder walls. not tho because it will build up the compression and wont turn over prob not even a spoon full in each and pull rope slowly not to blow it out. then after a few mins i would try to start it up. mst shops charges $ 60.00/hr for an engine breakdown and analyists. then is where your going to find your damage and cost of parts and labor.

I would ask myself just how the gas got into the crankcase to start with? the choke being on won't do it, unless the fuel tank is higher than the carb allowing it to gravity feed in from a leaking needle N seat the only other way is if the diaphragm in the fuel pump is bad and the fuel was being sucked in through the pulsar line from the pump to the block.
I would also find the leak in the block if any, a qt of diesel fuel will show any leaks fast IMO.
