    call me dumb, but, I can't find an oil filter on my engine......
    16 h.p. I/C BS........

    Any thoughts/hints?

      UM... I seriously can't remember if 16HP's have filters. My 18HP filter is located on the side of the motor, between the transmission, and the engine. You would not be able to see mine from the top view!

        I have a 16hp b&s in my hustler and the oil filter is in the rear under the head on the clutch side...right next to the oil drain plug...if that helps?

          Henry, I don't think that any of the Briggs I/C flat twin engines have oil filters, just the Briggs V twin Vanguards.

              So there's no pressure lubed briggs flathead twins in our amphib history? Just asking, as I've never had or worked on one. The lawn mower racing guys have used some models of them.. and I saw a .pdf engine diagram with a oil filter, probably a 44 cubic inch roughly. I gather they are good torque engines.. there aren't any strong rods made for them, some cams and other stuff is made. One guy adapted insert rod bearings into his. But unless restoring something to original, might as well replace with an overhead valve twin.
