I picked up an old project Argo 8 wheeler that has a 17hp Kohler in it. Supposedly it runs fine although I have some tinkering to do before I can test it. I just picked up a 2nd argo 8 wheeler from a small engine repair place for parts that has been sitting around there for a while. The owner said he thought he had the engine inside. Found it still attached to the engine/tranny frame (no tranny). He assumes that since it was buried on the bench it wasn't a runner but doesn't remember. Not sure of HP. No clutch. I will pick it up tomorrow.
My question is what were the differences between the plain Kohler (What I believe my project has) & the Series 2? What parts will NOT interchange?
