Cool, that is what I was actually asking and should have been clearer about the B&S information. Thanks!

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
      Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Where would a person get a one wire alternator, and how could it be mounted? Ideas? Thanks!

they will run 4,000 rpms without a problem or any modifications

You can find one at any automotive alternator/stater repair shop. Choose a smaller unit, 40 amp or less. I just did this a few months ago after the magnets came loose from my flywheel. 1 wire is really misleading as there are 2 wires. One wire is your output lead and goes from the lug on the alternator to the (+) of your battery. The other wire you need to hook up is a power wire to the alternator to exicte it.

A one wire would be self exciting, sounds like you have a two wire ND. Most 1 wire ND's have an external box mounted to them and fetch some coin. The smaller of the Delco one wires are larger bodied than the ND but not like the 75 amp Delco.

2 wires should be easy to hook up.

Vegas carts make a pulley for the clutch side to drive a generator Billet V-Belt Pulley for use with Comet 780 Clutch & Starter/Gen.

Your correct, it is externally excited, the alternator actually has 3 wires but you only need to use 2 unless you want the idiot light as well. The problem with most 1 wire alternators aside from the cost is they sense the voltage at the output source not from the electrical system. Most guys that go this route just run the lead right to the output lug, I prefer the fuse block. Whatever floats your boat, this is the cheapest and most efficient way as far as I'm concerned.

Not criticizing Zuk just clarifying your one wire statement, I have one on Sandy and Argo also uses similar to what you have.

No worries, I should have provided a more thorough initial reply to BCtech. In my experience when the majority of hobbyist ask about "1 wire" alternators what they are really asking about is "internally regulated" alternators, not a specialty one wire like you would find on a race car. Everybody just wants a cheap, simple "1 wire hook up" and GM alts with terminal 2 jumped are the best option for that.
