I read a old post about having to have the choke on even after engine is warm to restart. My kawasaki 27 hp has been like that since I purchased it new in 2004.After years of use it started running on only one cylinder spark was fine to both plugs. Pulled carburetor and cleaned twice
Still same issue. The third time I was in the sun and noticed small pinholes on the side of the throat of the carb. I believe two on each side maybe four I don't remember. I Tried a pin and needle nose pliers but the holes were to small.

I ended up using a straight welding tip cleaner super small and needle nose pliers to clean them out they were all plugged. Since then no choke needed after initial start its been two years.

    Interesting, Thanks.
I put one in my Conquest a few yrs ago, and have ALWAYS had to choke to start, no matter what the engine temp.

I've been running a kaw FD750 for years and even new they need choke to start. I've used a single strand of stranded wire to probe little jets and ports for years. It's hard to get anything small enough to clean ports in little two stroke carbs.

I have used a lighter to heat the tube and the crusty stuff runs out.sometimes it takes a minute but has worked for me several times.
