Im debating rebuilding my 440 or buying this 16hp b&s for $300 , its suppose to run great ,does this look like the right shaft? would I have to change anything on the driveline?would it be a fairly simple bolt up ,put on my old clutch , fab some exhaust and go? thanks

That is the proper shaft. You would need a clutch to put on it, and you would need to change the spring in the driven clutch on your T-20 (which would cost about $20 for the spring). Other than that, like you said just fab up an exhaust and you're set. If it is a good running engine that is ready to bolt in, I would go for it in a second. It is a super reliable motor with a lot of torque. You really can't go wrong.

The kohler probably has a tapered shaft, (I say probably because I have not had a Kohler 2-stroke powered anything, but I would be shocked if it wasn't.) SO, no, it won't even fit. And if it did, it would not work very well, it would rev the heck out of your 4-stroke and be quite un-efficient. What are looking for in an engine? Are you doing trail riding? Mudding? Do you hunt/fish? The 440 will be considerably faster, and great for trails and moving along at a good clip, the 4-stroke will be much quieter, and less maintenance, better for hunting/fishing, or if you go deep into the woods. (Or if you don't apreciate the sweet aroma of 2-stroke smokeOriginally posted by kestianj View Postcan I use the clutch off the 440?
) To go to 4-storke like sixbysix said, it's a great engine, fab up an exaust (Micmac did a great custom exaust for that exact engine, sounds great.) get a drive clutch for a 4-stroke. (E-Bay?) and a 4-stroke driven spring. Oh, odds are you'll need a different belt too.
