if you have to use the choke, then you are restricting air to match what fuel it is getting. that tells me that something is keeping it from getting adequate fuel supply. start with checking to see if the vent on the gas cap is plugged, then work your way from the tank to the carb. check fuel lines for obstruction, filter, fuel pump operation, and clean the carb. if none of that gets you going, then check to see that timing hasn't changed (sheared flywheel key) while your at it, replace the air filter and spark plugs.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Sounds like a carburetor issue, by your description the motor sounds like it is starving for fuel. Give the carb a good cleaning, spray carb cleaner through all the little passages and make sure you use fuel stabilizer in your fuel tank. After the game the King and the Pawn end up in the same Box!

Tim, you're a man of few words. I see from your info you still have the IV you built that 23 vanguard for. You must have been the first guy around to do that. My friends in the East say it's quite impressive. To Invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk. (Thomas Edison)
