  • Fuel pump for my gb50

I come home.. turn over the key on the attex.. she spins.. the hesitates.. do it again.. same thing.. So I pull the plugs.. hit the key.. gas hits the ceiling in the shop (next to the house 10' all wood.. )!!! I thought float stuck? pull carb .. all looks good.. like a jack ass I hit the key again.. another fountain!!! WTF? pull the suction line at the fuel pump to the crankcase .. gas runs out.. I disconnect the voltage reg thinking that was the coils.. hit the key... ignition!!!! big ol' flames!!!! Grab fire extinguisher (Good thing I have commercial one) fire is out.. looks like the fuel pump diaphram has a hole in it.. ( I pulled it apart) This could have been REAL ugly.. no wonder it was running crappy.. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR... if you don't already have one get and Extinguisher! and not a tiny one .. and keep it accessable! saved my ass!!!! Know where to get a Mikuni Diaphram pump? I read up on electric pumps... I'll pass on those! it was parked here.. next to my truck, 3 quads, harley, a '59 morris minor, and my sign shop in the rear portion, full of Printers ,laminators, computers, and material.. it is Alarmed with fire and burgler but by the time they would have gotten here it would have been ugly... take my advice .. now where do I get a pump? So it ened GOOD! is this the correct rebuild kit? the pump in 2 1/16" round http://www.mfgsupply.com/m/c/07-450-1.html?id=iSESLpKs

Glad to hear that you and all of your toys and home are OK. That certainly sounds like it could have gone MUCH worse. Here's a rebuild kit on ebay.

The P.O. of my Wild Wolf was cutting out old Axles with a cutting torch, didn't see the neoprene fuel line running under the center-right frame rail and hit it, filling the tub with flaming gas from a near-full tank. Only an on-hand good Fire Extinguisher saved the Barn, and the wolf from damage beyond that to the dash decal. (Seen on the center and right hand parts of the dash decal, otherwise surprisingly unharmed)
Fire Extinguishers guys/gals, their NOT an option!

This is from November, I'll leave details out due to a pending lawsuit, but place went up REAL fast.

            fire

When i first got my attex was taking a test run took of my sweat shirt threw it on the top rack it fell off and went onto the exhaust and melted the wires for the electrical. ThE machine shut off and by the time i got out i had a flaming ball of sweatshirt i grabed it quick and pulled out most of it except for what melted on the exhaust. Quick look around no water for 100 yards at least no loose dirt to throw on the flame. Next idea to pee on it almost had it out ran out of stream should drink more next time. Took of of my shirt and started running to where i know water was soaked the shirt ran back and put it out. Damaged wires no body melt . Walked home 2 miles got another battery and jumper cables and then winched it home the whole way. I got a fire extinguisher but never put it on after my restoration it will be installed this week. Thanks for helping me remember what could happen if not prepared.

I guess a full bladder isn't all bad

I've always carried an extinguisher, used it once on a 6x6 member's 2 stroke max. He was doing the 'take the plug out and crank it' thing. NOTE: if you do this, move the spark plug wire far away from the plug hole.

And to top it off I had all the doors closed! Big wake up call! I had the extiguisher charged that next day... The tech filling it was so moved by my fear that he gave me a 5 pounder to go with my 10 pounder I currently have...

                  Fuel pump for my gb50

I'm posting it here since it seems to get more traffic... I bough the ebay one with a link someone provided.. the rebuild kit came and it is to big (2.5") for the pump... so now to heck with it.. I'm just gonna order a pump.. .. most have two outlets.. wanna direct me to a pump that will work and get my 6x6 on the road again? I just want to make sure when I wait another week it will work this time ... thanks in advance!

I WORK IN A ATV AND MOTORCYCLE SHOP, YOU CAN GO TO YOUR NEAREST DEALER AND HAVE THEM GET YOU ONE OUT OF PARTS UNLIMITED CATALOG Mikuni MAKES A SINGLE CARB PUMP FOR AROUND $20.00. I JUST GOT ONE FOR MY SCRAMBLER. MOST OF THE STUFF THAT YOU WOULD NEED CAN BE FOUND AT SHOPS THAT CAN GET ATV OR SNOWMOBILE PARTS FROM PARTS UNLIMITED. I HOPE THIS HELPS

Our local shops are not as bright as yers back east! They give me the WTF look! We only go back 10years ... I can however get a mikuni 14ltr per hour pump at the local Honda shop... But from what I've read the is a direct replacement for an Honda odessy 250... I believe the one I need is 35ltrs per hour...for now I ordered another rebuild kit and shall wiat another 5 days to see if it correct this time.
