  • clutch alignment on Max II

I swapped a 12.5 hp Briggs with a new 23 hp Briggs and now my primary and driven clutch do not line up. They are aproximately 3/16" offset at this point. My old motor did not have a washer behind the primary clutch and the engine boss on the crankcase was shaved so the primary clutch sat very tight to the crankcase. I need to run a washer behind the primary on the new motor otherwise the clutch hits the crankcase. Should I simply shim out the driven clutch using washers or is it possible to shave the engine boss on the crankcase?

I would just shim the driven since it's such a small difference.

I was thinking the same thing but I hate to have to remove the Transmission. Can I get the driven clutch off a Max II without taking out the T-20?

        hi
After much investigation for my 6x6 and refering to salisbury/comet clutches ,not all alignment is perfectly inline ,some are installed up to 1/4 inch out .The model of clutch primary/secondary must be known to acheive this .
