ok guys,i finally got an answer from a kohler dealer.no factory recoil or pull starter was ever made for our old KT engines.looks like were gonna have to build our own or find one that will fit.if the one that mike bar shows was not to expensive i would buy one and try to fit it.or maybe we can find a canabalized unit to take one from?

    cheers.

ope engines.part number was in the flywheel section for m-18 engines.no picture but it was listed as a pulley.gotta take a chance since there is very little info on this subject.

finally received the pulley.it appears to have a 3/8" hole in centre, not sure what size the end of my crankshaft is.also it is not keyed or anything to hold it secure on crank.need to have a look at one on an M-18.heres some pictures anyhow.gotta be a way to install it and not have it spin on shaft.

the pulley fits very good.just have to shim it out so it dont touch the cooling fan and remove the grass screen.gotta go get a longer bolt and some star lock washers.go ahead and order it mooseman, very easy install.
