thinking of trading in my 16hp (runs great and always starts 1st turn) can anyone tell me if the 23 is worth the 1000. also can it pull hills like a 4x4 quad my 6x6 16hp cannot keep up with quads on powerlines (big hills with tree roots cant clear those roots) also i am running 22" gators as tires what kind of pressure should be in them. 1 last thing anyone have a roll bar for sale for a max II 2002 please help.

Put the 23 in and you have a whole different machine. If its worth the upgrade or not is up to you. You could always just take those quads of the trail and make them keep up with you. Tire pressure should be 1-2psi for the best all around ride. Pressure should vary slightly from tire to tire as you should go for correct circumferance around the tire. If that is the same from tire to tire you will put less stress on the drive chain and have less wear and tear.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

The difference will be night and day! Go for it, you'll be very happy. The horsepower is a good bit more, but the torque is A LOT more and you'll really feel it, especially on the hills. I have a 23HP Vanguard in my Hustler 980 BIGFOOT with 26" Super Swamper Vampire ASX tires and it will climb some really good sized hills with 4 guys in it without bogging down......ask Drew about that. The smaller Max II will be a whole new animal with that engine in it!"Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

That is great to here about the difference in the 2 engines. I think you guys sold me on it, you two should get a commission check from route 6x6. I'll bring it up with richard upon ordering the motor. How hard is it to install. it looks to be about 5-6 bolts and some small wiring????

Its simple to install, but don't go through route 6x6 unless you want to over pay for it. If you watch on eBay you can get one from brandnewengines real cheap. I just got a new 18 for $652 shipped to my door and it only took 3 days after the auction ended to get from Iowa to pa.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Richards relics wanted a $100 per bleeder for a scrambler so your looking at $300 for three reverse bleeders!That's insane and will make people give up.I posted pics of my fix on this site for others to see just like others had info for me . Richards relics website does not even put the price on the parts you have to call him.If you can afford him go for it but I appreciate humans helping one another.

OK I'll chime in hear, I had a OH180 in my max-II and it worked for what it was when it wanted to. I ordered a 23hp from Ebay and with shipping it only ran me $1045 But do to UPS took a month to get. the only thing I had to do was make a spacer to go on the shaft to move my clutch out a little and cum up with an exhaust that i liked. the weiring was easy to setup and the resulting power my machine now has is vary noticeable. Your machine wont run any faster than it did before BUT it will get there faster do to the torque of the motor. I learned this first hand with my swap. hill's that I had problems climbing with the old motor are no-longer a challenge for the new. Remember your top speed stays the same as your old motor but the increased torque will allow you to do the same things a little faster then your old motor. I hope this makes sense for you.
