  • Where to buy Kawasaki FD750D Carb rebuild kit?

I have a 1995 Max IV with the Kawasaki FD750D engine. I actually acquired it from my father-in-law after it had sat in storage for a couple years. He had it "serviced" before I picked it up...not sure what services though. It ran good for the first few months of limited use. But last time I had it out, in March, it conked out. I was only able to drive home with the choke full on. And so it has sat for the pas few months.

I wanted to try and get her back in action now that the weather is cooling off. So I drained the fuel out as best I could, removed the carb and gave it a good soaking in carb cleaner and blew out any holes with compressed air, reinstalled the carb and refueled (added in some Seafoam). Now it still will only idle if I hold the throttle about 1/2 way; it will drive but very weak unless I pull the choke about 1/3 then it drives better.

So I am guessing that I need two things...replace the gaskets and seals in the carb and possible adjust the carb. This presents two problems: where can I find a carb rebuild kit for this engine(Dr Google has not been too helpful)? And I have no idea how to adjust the air-fuel mix on this carburetor. Any pointers?

You can assume I am a novice mechanic with decent hacking skills.

I should have mentioned...when I had the carb apart, none of the gaskets were cracked or broken. But all the rubber pieces felt stiff and brittle.

#1) Did you replace the fuel filter? It may or may not have anything to do with your problem, but for a $2.99 part.......

Any lawn mower shop should be able to help you out on the carb kit. You will need to give them a model# and serial# located somewhere on the motor.
I would guess that you still have some crud in the carb, and not bad seals....try cleaning it again (after filter change).

Many people on this site have had modern gas eat away at thier rubber fuel lines. If you keep getting crud in the carb, it might be wise to replace the lines also.

Thanks! I found another post that recommended a more thorough cleaning removing the float and pilot screws and cleaning those. I have twice cleaned this baby but even the second time found more stuff I missed the firs go around.

Any thoughts as to adjusting or tuning the carburetor? There were two screws embedded into the sides of the carb that I tweaked today and was actually able to drive around, but never really got full power output. Hope I didn't dork it up, but I was happy to just drive my kids around the farm.
