  • Hi guys, I just gave a little test on the chanel tracks. My story;, My ice shack ( kind of havey) was in my back yard. I took my truck ( 4x4) to pull it out ut it was icy and it didn't work so I try with the argo and got it out. I then pulled the shack on the road with the truck ( about 5 miles) to the shore of the lake. A week later I went to get it with the argo to put it on the the lake. The snow plow had passed and left big snow bank. How suprised I was when I pulled it whit the argo. No effort at all. I got on the lake and pulled in slush and snow for about a mile.
To answer to North country, I don't have a garage and my argo sleeps in a shelter ( tempo type). It seems that the ice build up on the crosser goes off easy as soon as we get hard stuff. I drove it days later in -20C and no problem. Went back on the lake, snow close to 2 feet and some slush just like nothing. There as never been any problem with tire slipping.
I was also surprise with climbing in snow. Also you turn on a dime with no strees at all, very amasing to see that.
The downside I find is that it is very rough ride on hard road and it doesn't go fast on lake ( and no way to try to go fast on hard road) but you don't feel it in snow and on lake.
That is my story for now. Next time I'll try it in heavy bush and very deep snow. So far we're getting a lot of snow here in northwestern Québec.

    • That is good to know. I do not know about snow yet. We have none to speak of. But I did find she do,s turn a lot better then with the old plastic tracks.. I could get cocky and say it,s like having power steering, to compared to the plastic. But thats pushing it.

      • Thank you so much Jack,I very much appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions and concerns with icing in slush and cold,we go slow on the trails and lake so not concerned about that, the rubber tracks on the crisp snow take some power to turn. Thanks again Jack

        • Hi
I purchased my tracks about eight weeks ago for my conquest. They are great. Very easy to put on . I have had them in 14 inches of snow and about 8 inches of slush . The tracks are self cleaning and when left out in -28 for about 6 hrs they worked great. The little bit of ice build up was gone in minutes. I would highly recommend these tracks to anyone.

With the 20" wide tracks how wide of an axle extension do you run on a Conquest?

                • I personally prefer an inside belt width of 4" with a 2.75" wheel spacer and matching track-tuner. That gives you about 1.5" inches of daylight to where your skid-plate wraps your tub. I've seen some machines with less of a gap, but I don't recommend it. Just do the math from there if you desire a wider inner belt. With a 10" wide tire typically on the conquest, 4" belts innner/outer make for an 18" wide track. 4" inner, 6" outer makes for a 20" track etc. without having to move to a large wheel spacer or modified track tuner. Same holds true for the 12" wide tired avenger-size machines except that with equivalent belt widths, the tracks are 2" wider overall.

                  • Just curious, is there a version of this track designed for mud, or is this a snow and ice only track?

                    • ummm. I would suspect being an open crosser track it should work in the mud too.

                      • Hi, that track is made for any condition. I tried them last fall in mud, moss and everything you see in a swamp. Nothing stopped it and it turns easier than on wheel. We have a lot of snow here. I hope that I'll have a chance to try them in over 24" of snow and some slush this weekend. I plan to go to my moose camp. If it makes it there I don't think anything will stopped it( humm, there is always places we find to get stuck hahaha).
When I first had an argo I tought I could go anywhere just on wheel, woops surprise. Then I found out that it's no good in snow so I put plastic track for winter. It was ok but not at my satisfaction. Now I'm on chanel track and can't be more pleased fo my needs

Well, I so far am very happy with the chanel track on my conquest. For the price they are a very well built track. I sure do not think you could go wrong.
They say we may get some snow friday. And I will be hitting the hills.
I know what you mean about the super track. I had to do some mod to them just to make them work . I will say they did give great flotation in soft snow but thats about all..
There are loads of tracks out there now as you know. To me I think the Escargo may be the top of the line. But you are paying twice the price. At least they are made in Canada also like the chanel track. The Adair are a good track also but I do not think they would suit my needs. And by the time I pay the $exchange and shipping I may have just of bought the Escargo track. And be done with it. They also make a nice winter kit for the Escargo track.
As for the Chanel track you are getting very good track for the price. And I see no reason why you could not add a winter kit to it also. Mine are the 20 Inch with 2.5 Inch spacers. But I also went with a wider rim and tire. And he will make them to what ever you desire, Almost with reason.
One thing is I sure do not think I could walk out of them. Unless you loss a tire. They are not coming off.
Well that is my option And Im not knocking any track. Maybe just the supper track. But then again they may suit someone else just fine for what they are useing them for.

thanks for the input old tucker.ive priced every track out there and your right, chanel has the best bang for your buck.i cant see myself throwing 4-5 k towards a set of tracks to put on a machine thats only worth 5-6 k.lets face it,for 12k you can jump up to an avenger with a few extras.anyhow im with NCT and leaning towards a set of chanel tracks.
