  • Thanks for sharing. Very cool!!!(literally)
What it lacks in ground clearance it makes up for with traction.

That is a lot of snow you have there....Seems like it could be very easy to get lost in that area is a blizzard came up suddenly..Have to make sure that you are prepared for the worst case in those conditions....

      Great vid.
Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.

          • I hope to go back up in a couple of days. But its getting very hard to get their due to lack of snow at lower elevations. One spot I had to winch myself up. In this trip I stayed until 6 PM and watched the storm come in. Then I got the hell out of there.
I hope my new helmet cam come in. So I can get some better video.
No Playing in mud puddles for this kid. I look for some serious areas to explore.

We have it all, If need be we have snowshoes enough food for a couple of days water and lots of warm clothes. We have been pinned down a few times, unable to descend on a few mountaineering trips. thats when you go into the survival mode whether you like it or not. All you can do is make yourself comfy and let the storm do its thing. There will always be another day if you keep your head on your shoulders.

                  • Very cool video OT. That really makes me feel like I bought into the right system. You were going in, up, and on some knarely winter terrain. Unfortunately I have the new HD axle/bearings on the front, new tires, new track tuners/spacers, and a set of new Chanel tracks, but the season is pretty much over for me. All dressed up and no place to go!! Besides my unit won't fit on my trailer with those wider tracks. I will have to wait to play next season. Definitely something to look forward to.

                    • I know how you feel. you get all dressed up and your ready to play in the snow. but its all gone. That what it was like here early in the year. We had no snow at all to speak of. It just came very late this year. Where I was ridding In the video, it looks like a lot of snow but last year there was a good 5 feet more snow then this year up there.
A friend just went back up today and said there is a good two feet more then the other day. He could not see my tracks at all.
This summer we are going to do a lot of work on the trail in the lower elevation so it will not be so hard to get there in low snow years. I hope to go back up in a couple of days. And I will let you know how it goes.
Thorn If I go a winter kit on the tracks I think I will just make a ramp on the trailer so the tracks will just sit above the fenders. That way I will not have to modify the trailer to much. And the argo has such a low centre of gravity anyway there will not be a problem..

                      • chanel track impression

Hi, I'm back on the site. My first winter is done with my chanel tracks. Worked really well for me. I'd like to know more about the ones that used them last winter. The goods, the bads and so on. Different type of snow I went a bit in powder, did ok. Went in deep slush, there is always a limit but in general amasing.
So what did you thing about them in snow?

                        • Welcome back brebett . I used the track a lot this winter and found them to be a very good investment. I have put them through some pretty rough conditions and they stood up. Side hilling with them is amazing and in some situations I had to put all the weigh of the argo on the outer edges of them and turn. I found they did not want to try to twist and come off at all, They stayed nice and flat on the tire.
The only thing I did to them, is to add some paddles to help out in the power snow. The crossers did not ice up going from a wet snow to cold dry snow. [IMG][/IMG]

                            • Nice thing with the added paddles. I was thinking doing similar but with an added 4" of surveyer track on the outside. Your way you have some on inside and outside, looks less work than an added 4" strap. Hope to see more comments.
On easter weekend we went for a ride my brother, sister and me. One big sled, one tracked 4 wheeler and my avenger with chanel tracks. My brother followed my tracks but one time it sunk at same place I was floating. We had a hard time getting that 4 wheel out of the hole.
