  • Homemade Argo Tracks

The homemade tracks have been test driven and work great. Have about $795 total cost into them. They are 15" snowmobile tracks and the brackets are 1 1/2" x 3/16" aluminum.

Very nice, must have been time consuming making the tire guides.

Nice job. I like the extra long guides.
What it lacks in ground clearance it makes up for with traction.

Thanks guys ya they were a little time consuming but didn't want the extra weight of still. I have been a welder and fabricator for 19 years so it wasn't to bad. I did make the guides 6" long after hearing guys on here talking about walking out of there's . And thanks again johnboy va for the help the 1" gap was right on.

                  Looks good, nice job.
Are you running 22's? Are you running extensions? Did you not run a hinge kit?
What was the length of the track as I am thinking of cutting a set down for my V2?

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
                  Joe Camel never does that.

                    Demon72, I used 54 guides per track

Argo Jim, I am running 22x11x8 tires, Also have 1 3/4" extension on it without them only had and inch gap which wasn't enough for me, no hinge kit bolted them together using the flat pieces for the outside of the track, 4 pieces used to sandwich the track together. tracks are 167" long which left a 1" gap that worked out perfect. If you need anymore info. or close up pics just let me know. Jim

Thanks Hunterman06, if I'm getting the 1" gap you mention as a 1" overlap I'm at a good point.
overlap pictured and assuming the track butted flush would be 165".

Best way to do it would be to put your tracks on flatten the tires. Then pull the tracks tight then cut them so you have an 1" gap.

Looking at the pics you posted I noticed two black things on your argo that at first I thought were lights but then looking at the pic from the front they are not lights. Floats?

Ya they are boat bumpers the kind you can put air in. I put them on to help with the extra weight of my auger.

I thought of that as I have heard not sure if true but some of your water speed is determined by how much of your tires are above the water. Again not sure how true but thought was worth a try never got around to it. Might help with the Adair tracks on the 6x6s as the 8x8 movre pretty good in the water. I get about 1/2 a mph per gps with those tracks. tires 4 mph. I have a bigfoot also was just a little disappointed by water speed with those tracks but have a trolling motor to help.
