I will keep you guys in mind when I get the costs down. Right now the Jet Wheel is fabricated out of aluminum. The tire rim hubs are steel, you only install them once. My costs are rather high the water-jet cutting cost $150/hr., this along with the aluminum and welding makes a set of them rather expensive. I would like to roto-mould them, but then a steel mould costs $15,000. I think nylon would be a good material if I do go to a moulded product.
The diameter and width could be reduced without affecting performance. If you google "Banki Turbine" you will get an idea how they work. A regular "paddlewheel" won't work because too much of it is submerged, the thrust vectors cancel each other out. The whole design process can be really frustrating, it took a lot of time and money to arrive at the present design.
It's like looking at tire tread designs and saying to yourself "just look at those lugs and pattern they should really swim. You buy a set, and then discover that you "ain't going nowhere".
