There are some used 26 x12x12 , High Lifter , Outlaws , in Shreveport ,La where I live , that are advertized on Craigs list . I,d buy these tires in a heart beat if these tires would work on my Max IV .

Reasons why they won,t work :

    1. The side lugs are VERY large and would cause rubbing on the inner tub . To prevent this from happening , you would need to have custom axles made by some one like Whipper .

    2. The large side lugs would cause a tremendous strain on the chains , as the side lugs grabbed traction , each time you tried to skid steer . This is the wrong tire to consider on a skid steer machine .

    3. Running High Lifter , Outlaw tires on a Max IV , or an Argo , might even snap axles if the stress placed upon them was too great .

    4. Only amphibs with the ability to turn one bank of tires in the opposite direction of the other bank of tires , can run the Out law tire with out beaking or straining chains to the point of premature wear . The Hyratrex , Hydrotraxx , Triton , and also the Mud OX are amphibious machines that have this ability .

      SWAMP HAWG ,

Even if you could mount the Outlaw tires on your Attex , how long do you think your chains would last trying to skid steer tires with side lugs like these ? Do you see how deep the scoops on the side lugs are ? These tires are notorious for breaking things on 4-wheelers , what do you think a tire with side walls this a

Is it really hard to believe the the antiquated design of tires on AAtvs now could be over shadowed by mud tires that might work well on an AATV .

as long as you had the correct offset rims this would not be a problem

        2. The large side lugs would cause a tremendous strain on the chains , as the side lugs grabbed traction , each time you tried to skid steer . This is the wrong tire to consider on a skid steer machine .

how exactly would side lugs cause more resistance as most of the time the only part that causes resistance is what contacts the ground?

        3. Running High Lifter , Outlaw tires on a Max IV , or an Argo , might even snap axles if the stress placed upon them was too great .

same can be said with any tire traction media or track use?

        4. Only amphibs with the ability to turn one bank of tires in the opposite direction of the other bank of tires , can run the Out law tire with out beaking or straining chains to the point of premature wear . Petty bold statement , you do realize that chains are used in hydrostatic skid steers also right? think of how a machine turns and how the forces and resistance is applied to its componants?

Seems to me that Any Machine that is designed to have the added stresses of tracks not to mention the increased traction of tracks should be able to withstand the extra traction of the outlaws

Perhaps i am missing something ?

Aww, come on, somebody will buy a set. They have Dan Edwards name written all over it Noticed they make a 25x9.5x12. Probably lose some floating height in the water, but would give body clearance. Or a frontier. Not me though, I know better

This a pic of the 31" Outlaw, The 31's and 29.5" Laws have much bigger side lugs than the smaller sizes. The 25 - 28 inch laws only have about 1.5 or so at the corners of the tread.
Also Outlaws "balloon up " into a very round shape with added air pressure. If the side lugs were giving too much bite/stress or whatever you can add air & make them ride on the center of the tire. This isn't the final answer if a given machine will experience premature parts wear/failure because of an aggressive tire like an outlaw, just something else to think about.
An added note , I've seen a lot of 6x6's with knobbies on all 6 axles.
I would venture to say that those knobbies offer so much more resistance to skid steering on hardpack vs. an Outlaw is not even close. But who knows right?

I am not going there Roger. I really believe this tire would stress the frame and every other componet. Besides I already make these quads with the big tires look really silly, so why would I want the extra wear and tear an outlaw would give. I would consider this tire strongly if I owned a Mud Ox with a drive train that is designed to take all the abuse and stress this tire would cause.
