  • escargo track vs adair track

I know that there are post on adair tracks. They seem very good. But did anybody ever tried the escargo track in the same hole and then the adair track.
I don't see any adair track dealer here in Québec. The escargo track dealer is only 2 hours drive from home so I'd like to know the difference. Do they compare?
Does anybody know where to find adair track in ontario or québec in canada?

ask for the total installed weight of the escargo tracks versus the adair, you'll get the point.

A guy in Quebec ordered from Adair and had the tracks delivered to his home.

BUT if you want to save a bunch on various fees, get the tracks delivered in your name but with freeport forwarding address just 300 feet south of the border in Lacolle/Champlain

    Freeport forwarding

that's what I do. I even had the 2008 Max IV AATV delivered there.

Yes, people have gone in the same hole with those two pairs of tracks competing. You can search mudbug's posts on that exact topic. It was sort of a blowout.

About to pull the pin on a set of 18" Adairs+spacers for 3980$ ... ouch! plus an estimated shipping to Ontario for 550$ ..double ouch! After paying 26800 for a new HDi ...divorce incoming ouch!

Just waiting on Tim to requote me on the cost to ship them pre built, just to see the difference.

The Adair tracks are a lot lighter than the Escargo tracks. In this video you can see that the Argo 8x8 with Adair tracks is faster driving backwards than the Argo 8x8 with Escargo tracks is driving forwards.

In catails and swamp reeds the Argo 8x8 with Adair tracks runs off and leaves the Argo 8x8 with Escargo tracks.

if you are less than 2 hours from the border, go get them on the US side and you will just pay the TPS crossing back in Canada.

Shipping within US is ridiculously low so you will also save there.

And if you still get the tracks delivered in Ontario, be ready to pay the transporter a hefty brokerage fee over the TPS tax rate.

All I can say is be very care full with UPS When you order something from US and they ship it UPS, In canada you will pay a brokerage fee, when the order arives at your door. And this is over and above the shipping and handling you all ready pay for. They hit me once with that. I just said I have all ready paid for shipping and handling, I SAID SHIP IT BACK AND PUT YOUR FEE WHERE THE SUN DOES NOT SHINE. Reordered the same thing and had them ship by mail, took longer but saved 100bucks

Wow, sorry you guys in Canada have all those fees and taxes.

As for the performancece of Adair vs Escargo tracks these videos speak volumes. Both machines were Argo Frontier 650's, one machine had the Escargo Tracks, one machine had the Adair Tracks- One machine totally out performed the other swimming and in really nasty mud and swamp conditions-any questions as to which machine out performed the other can be answered by watching the videos.

As for my personal experience with Adair tracks-I have always be stunned by just how good they are, the performance in mud, swamp and trail conditions is nothing less then outstanding.

Hi, you're right, the videos show by themselves. My other concern is about snow, slush and ice. Like we see on a video with escargo tracks the argo goes throu deep slush and come back on ice fairly easy ( can't do that with tires, I happened to be stuck on a lake, ice brooke, and I had to crowl on ice and find something to winch it out. If the ice wouldn't hold my weight I could freeze to death in the argo by the time somebody finds me). In deep snow would I have to add width on adair or the original 14 1/2 " will do good. Is it good if I just put some on the outer side so I don't have to add spacer.

Does anybody know what the Adair tracks are like in deep powder?

Tim and some friends will have some video's posted in a few more weeks of how well the Adair tracks perform in deep snow. With the 3" inch track extensions added to the standard 14" inch Adair tracks , they perform really good in deep powdered snow. In 13' foot of deep powdered snow the Adair tracks clocked 19.6 by gps. Tim is almost finished with a new track design that will help the Adair tracks climb up on ice even better than his last design.

I've heard that the adair track fall off. The braces that hold the track in place seems like the same as the argo plastic track. I had a set of them and they were braking a lot. I also heard that chunks from the adair tracks going off. I just want to know if anybody ever had those issues.

                              Seriously????
Brebett, I have yet to see any track "Fall Off". I would suggest that IF a person was having that trouble, it is totally their own fault for NOT properly inspecting and maintaining their machine. Yes, I have driven out of tracks before.........3 times if I remember correctly...........Every time, it was my own fault. I have not yet managed to drive out of an Adair.
The Argo "Plastic" tracks that you had are in no way, shape, or form similar to the Adair Tracks. Adairs are made from UHMW Plastic (Ulltra High Molecular Weight), it's some of the Toughest Stuff out there ( I have it on the bottom of my Jetboat where it gets smashed over rocks and gravel bars quite regularily) This stuff is used to line the box of big Rock Trucks. These trucks are used in the Mining ind, Road Construction, ect.

Me thinks you have been fed a pile of ................. Well, that's not importand. I think you have been misinformed, and I would LOVE to see pics of the Adair Tracks with "Chunks" missing out of them. Not saying it Couldn't happen, but my experience with UHMW leads me to think it unlikely.

I think it's pretty well known that different tracks/tires have advantages in different conditions. If someone is having that much trouble with their Adairs, perhaps thay might be better off just running tires.
