  • T-20 Mount Review

    Hi.

The tankette project continues. The T-20 has 2 lower rails bolted to it - basically in a permanent fashion for the life of this vehicle, with the 4 lower mounting bolts. This first picture shows that area.

These bolts could be tack welded to their rails, etc. so that they don't come out. Will I still be sorry for not using the upper 4 bolts? Their are certain restrictions for servicing the T-20 that prohibit further welded frame across the top of the T-20, but I could bolt upper rails on to the T-20 and then bolt that to the frame. The lower rails sit on slotted framework for fine adjustment of the T-20 fore and aft.

    hi,
u have the slots located on the transmission studs .
Q Is there a way to have the sloted section of the angle iron to face the chassis ??

The reason I ask is so u donot wear out the slots from vibration and also by having the slots on the chas side u can have a pusher bolt that prevents trans from moving forwards or backwards .
To solve T20 adjustment bolt access use allen bolts with the nuts welded onto plates so they do not spin . Access allen bolts with very long extension from top of transmission .
The remaining concern is having a diagonal bracing to prevent transmission torque twist .NB this will always loosen bolts.

I know it looks like it with that extra little hole near the bolt, but the rail->T-20 is a straight hole, no slot. The slot is in the chassis where this rail sits on top of. Maybe I should take some more photos.

In front of the driver's seat, on the floor (we don't get much seating height in this vehicle), I have the pivot points for the two control bars. It is 1/2" black pipe with the internal weld line drilled out to fit on a 5/8" steel rod.

            Tankette Progress

            The tankette project advances slowly/surely.

diagonal braces of pipe are being installed. The construction of tracks is the plan for the winter.
