I took the first half of my transmission apart and found some scoring on the planetary gear shaft where it goes into the bronze bushing in the case. The bushing was scored too. Its not horrible, but there is definitely some bad wear. Is that bronze bushing available from RI? Any chance that someone will have a used planetary gear for me?
On the other hand, if it will go for a few hundred hours as is, I'm fine with putting it back in too.

Some scoring is typical and not anything to worry about. The bushings are available through R.I., but like all bushings, they shrink after being pressed in. You will need to ream them to the correct size.
FYI: The sun gear is the tiny one in the center. The planetary gears are the 3 that attach to the drum and rotate around the sun. I believe you are referring to the drum with the "ring gear". The 3 planetary gears spin it.

Well, mostly right. The very, VERY early T-20s whose design was commissioned by the Catholic Church were of very similar construction, but had a single "Earth" gear mounted in the center and had one Sun gear and two planetary gears that spun around the main shaft on each side. Operation was about identical, but the faithful quickly realized that modifications were necessary to predictably explain the unit's operation. The new "Copernican T-20" as we know it is a subsequent redesign from the 1540s in which a single sun gear resides in the center per Buggyman's description.sigpic
